My 2021 Lariat is going into a local dealer on Monday to fix the "clicking HVAC, poor distribution" issue. I have the Ford ESP and they are providing a rental. It has 35,000 miles on it and it does not emit one rattle, clunk, squeak, or creak while driving. I need it to be returned in this condition.

Please send your Hail Mary's my way.

The dealer took the truck and gave me a loaner Escape. They called a few hours later and said that they could not duplicate the issue and no codes were thrown. I told them to keep it overnight and try again when the truck is cold. They did that and still could not duplicate the issue. Every conversation we had devolved into cost to the dealer. I finally had enough and escalated to the service manager. He sat in the lot with me and we could not duplicate the issue, even though it does this every day. Everything worked fine. So he told me to wait until it gets worse and come back in. He waived all charges, including the rental. Of course, it started acting up about 10 minutes after I left the dealership. Knowing that it would stop as soon as I pulled back into their lot, I gave up and went home.

It's sad that today's technicians and service organizations are reluctant to do actual warranty troubleshooting due to the risk of not being paid by the manufacturer, at least when it comes to Ford. I have never had a response like this from Toyota or Volkswagen.

I still love the truck. My warranty is good until 2029 and 100K miles. I may get stuck without heat or A/C for a while but it will get fixed eventually.

That reminded me of not 1 but 2 times I had a similar issue. First was with the second car I bought new. That was a 1987 Chevette. Didn't have it but a couple of weeks when I started to make a squeaking sound. Dealer test drove it. No noise. I didn't get off the lot when it did it again. Went back got the service Wrighter. And we went out again only I drove. Luckly, it acted up. Turned out I needed front brakes. Once every single year of ownership I had to have brakes done. Second was a used 1990 Mercury Grand Marquise. Long story short. It would hesitate wile I drove it. Took it back to the dealer. They took it for a test drive and had no issues. But then again, they just took it around the block. I made them take it further down the road. They determined it needed valve oil seals. They did the repair. In reality the engine was shot. And they did replace it. That's only part of the story. Let's say I parted company with that car less than a week after getting back from being repaired.

I thought they had fixed the AC issue prior to '21. Having said that, mine was making some faint clicking noises from behind the radio the other morning. Everything seemed to function properly.

Supposedly, they did, but I still have the problems. Clicking, and uneven distribution between sides.

I'm going to have to keep an eye on this. I am the only person in the truck 99% of the time, so may not be totally aware of heat distribution. But I haven't noticed any issues with just me.
