The staff at Bull Rings would like someone to check the specs on the openings in the bed.

Can someone fulfill their request, whoever doesn’t have a drop-in or spray-in bedliner?

Hello,

We would love for you to send a few pictures of your stake pockets. Especially if you happen to lay a ruler on the pocket in both directions.
The more images the merrier. Different trim packages around different parts of the country make some trucks spec differently. Thanks so much

Steve

RD, It that bothers you, I would think you can always cut around the plastic tab, take them off and buy new plastic tabs.

I should be able to measure mine a little later tonight when I get home from work, and let you know.

Bull Rings' question is about stake pockets which are on top of the bed rails. Rangers do not have stake pockets. I didn't see anything on their website indicating they make tie downs for those side bed pockets.
I checked their website too. Mostly stake pocket tie downs, but ALSO side mounted options for Chevy and GMC, ‘Cuz they have an odd shaped stake pocket intended as a hand-hold for climbing into the bed...

Here ya go. Dont know if the upper indent in the sheet metal was needed as well.

Thanks I emailed these to the staff at Bull Rings. Are you able to measure how deep the hole is?

Exactly this is what I was thinking about:

The holes go all the way to the outside sheet metal. There is no reinforcement around them at all. Sent the pics to
Steve @Bullrings as well. He said the lack of support structure is an issue. Im thinking these openings were used during corrosion dip treatment then just plugged off with caps.

If it doesn’t work out thankfully Ford already provides us 6 tie downs.

Looks like the answer is a resounding No.

I believe these are straight punch holes. They do not appear to have any reinforced edge no clamp no weld - no stamping.
I believe these would flare if given the force of impact or hard swerve/ spin. They would trumpet out and fail. Not going to recommend their use for cargo restraint.

Thanks

Seems like there should be a way to bracket these on the inside with a larger flared retainer to spread the force (similar to a toggle anchor)

Any takers? @Akshon
Hello,

What is an address for you to get some samples and try them and photograph the installation?
I’ll send them and if they work- it’s our pleasure for you to keep them.

Thanks

Steve
