Well, you learn something new everyday. I'm laid up for a few weeks after cancer surgery and didn't want my 2021 ranger lariat to get lonely, so I remote started it from the Ford Pass App a couple time last 2 weeks.
I tried again today and got the message "Failed To Start, You must drive your vehicle after 2 remote starts." Not sure what this accomplishes but just found it interesting.

I use remote start fairly regularly and have not seen this... off course I'm using it to warmup the truck prior going somewhere (been -9 F here lately). I did read either here on Range5g or in a YT video is that remote start with the key (lock, start, start) is deferent in some way internally than that of remote start with the Ford Pass app.

I use the key most often as the truck is close enough to receive the signal. If the Ranger is not too far away and the signal does not have to go through too many walls and windows, give that a try and see what happens.

I get that alert all the time but I wonder if setting up scheduled starts avoids that?

I also get that if I've done a remote start and hit extend by 15 minutes. The next remote start gives me your message too.

The Remote Start-X never does this BUT you have to be pretty close to your vehicle (like 50 feet).

Friday yet?

Hey Op, screw the remote start! Screw the Fordpass app. too! Absolutely not important right now for you.

Sorry to hear about your surgery.... and the cancer diagnosis. Wish you the best with recovery. Sending good good vibes your way.

Let us know how you are doing occasionally please... but only if you want to. Some things are personal and that's cool too.

This may be something that happens if you remote start it more than once but don’t get in the truck and drive it.

A security feature - like if someone steals your phone and tries to find your truck in a parking lot by starting it with the app and listening for the starter noise - idk - maybe?

Okay, back to my nap.

That's what I'm thinking too. Gonna have wife drive it to work one day and see if it'll start after that.

Thanks. Yeah I just wanted to run it a bit in the sub freezing weather we had last week in north Louisiana.
I had a prostatectomy after prostate cancer diagnosis. PSAs were always normal. Went in for TURP procedure (Transurethal Resection of Prostate?)
And pathology report came back with too much for radiation treatment. So, catheter for 2 weeks and 32 staples in the gut. Pain is minimal but activity other than some walking is discouraged. Thanks for asking. Catheter out Wednesday, hopefully staples too.

Three things: 1 - I hope your recovery goes well! 2 - I think the deal with the app making you actually drive the truck after two remote starts is a security feature ensuring that your app account hasn't been hacked. 3 - How did you (or anyone else here for that matter) get the picture of your truck on app home screen? Mine just has the text of what I named my truck...

Mine has the stock Ford image just like the one where you "build" your truck when ordering. Now it would be really cool if you could upload your own pic.

If I remember right, if you tap the top center of the screen it opens the truck picture. I have 2 vehicles there now so I have to select between them.
