Sounds like they have a good replacement for you. Once this is behind you, the new love for the Ranger will continue. Maybe try a different Dealer next time?
Definitely agree there. I'll be shopping elsewhere when its time for another vehicle. Will be getting my service appointments at another dealer as well. A shame that quality control and good customer service are absent from so much these days.

Just an fyi, but most vehicles nowadays have laminated glass all around just like the windshield. The Ranger has this. Improves to quiet the cabin.
This sounds like a production problem in the laminating process. Bad batch?
Glad you're good to go now.

Wanted to give an updated update and get some opinions. I thought I was good after the last back window replacement (glass number 3 counting the original), but not completely sure now. Sorry, a bit of a long post but appreciate the read.

The latest replacement has an odd wavy effect on the right and left sides when viewed straight on from the tailgate...on the outer edges of where the window defroster is located. Only viewable from the outside though as It is clear and not wavy when looking from the inside. I've read on other websites that auto glass isn't what it used to be and things like this can be quite common. It is an OEM glass with the Ford logo on it.

I contacted a different dealer/glass place and they have offered to take a look and offer an opinion on if it should be replaced yet again. I'm thinking they will say yes...because more money for them. I'm also suspicious of the dealer installation. For example, they put damming tape (foam) on the outside edge to keep the urethane from running out. So this basically stays damp most of the time. Not sure if that's an issue or not as I'm not a professional glass installer. But they really didn't instill confidence.

This is beyond exhausting and tiring. At this point should I just deal with the oddity on the outside since the glass seems fine otherwise...or do I try glass #4 with all the uncertainty that comes with it? I've already gotten a few paint scratches from their carelessness as most don't care if it isn't theirs.

Thanks for the long read and I appreciate the opinions.

Hi Anthony,

If it is not right....make them fix it right... Hopefully different dealer, different experience in the positive direction.

Sounds like a COVID-related supply chain issue. Ford is probably scrounging for suppliers these days.
