Ranger Turbo Upgrade (Work Turbos)

okay second drive impressions, this turbo is great, the turbo whistle and blow off valve noises make for a fun test drive and the response feels close to a stock turbo I highly recommend it, I will be doing some data logs in the next few days and will post about the findings, Work Turbochargers claims the 52mm compressor wheel is good for 500 crank HP

I am guessing this is not a useful upgrade unless you do a custom tune? I'm wondering if this one will spool up faster for less turbo lag? I was thinking of going the direction of gearing prior to my engine issue.

On a side note, hear Wed/Thursday my truck will be done.

Not super knowledgeable about this turbo stuff...
Is this just a turbo swap? Like direct bolt on? (Gotta have new plumbing?)
Running stock tune and injectors?
Just wondering? lol
Every time this happens it cost me more money!

turbo is a direct swap, you will need a tune to take advantage of the bigger turbo, no injectors are needed if you stay on 91/93 octane fuel

too soon to tell on the hp but I purchase a used one and send it in for the upgrade

My guess would be the same bump as a canned tune. Its a good bang for the buck improvement if you exhaust all other bolt on mods. Stock truck, probably not a huge gain.

No kidding, this loaner F150 I am in has the 3.5L Hybrid setup and in Sport mode, for a truck it sure has some pull. I am surprised the coyote 5.0L swap hasn't gotten popular here. Seems like Australia and Thailand perhaps are the two countries that I have seen videos with them. I wish I had the money to seriously consider a swap like that.

Man dude, must make for a fun truck! That must put it close to or better than this F150 Hybrid I am in and this thing is pretty quick down low in the RPM range.
