This is probably nothing new to some of you, but I came across this short video of the Ford Ranger assembly plant. I found it interesting and thought I would share for those who have not seen it.

Uniforms!

Even if they are the best in the World, dressing like they do does not portray confidence. The sweat pants and top just do not do it.
Even if they are all wearing matching union shirts. Let's have a team!

I thought the same thing when I saw the video. Why aren’t they wearing a uniform?? I’m sure it has something to do with cost savings and the union workers wanting a ton of money for cleaning and upkeep. Not that I don’t think they deserve it, but it comes down to the mighty dollar in the end.

In 2001 my wife got a new Volvo, we picked it up at the factory and took a tour, all the workers were wearing white coveralls and white gloves. I was amazed at how clean everything was.

One worker in the video had his own gray coveralls. Looked good. Would not take much. At my plant everyone gets $150 a year for shirt uniform and or safety shoes. The company store also has approved coats, caps and sweat shirts for sale that can be purchased from the $150. They are encouraged to use. By October a list goes out with totals people still have. We have many customer tours and have sealed contracts based on the final visit.
Teamwork and pride are helped from this.

I don't give a shit what they are wearing. I worked in a factory all my career and never wore a uniform. Working in a car factory is hot noisy work try to be comfortable within the safety concerns.
