Phone mount option

I don't have my ranger yet. And used Android Auto years ago on a rental. But with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, why would we still need to see our phone? I just figured once my phone is hooked up using Android Auto the phone would just set in the console tray.

Depends on what you are doing. For offroad, I know people who use Trails Offroad for nav/trial info and they aren't CarPlay compatible, so... seeing your phone is the only way for it to work. Until recently, OnX didn't have CarPlay either.

Dumb question, why do we need a phone mount if a vehicle had android or Apple play? Cheers?
