Paint damaged or defect?

Went out to the Ranger this morning and noticed this. Any thoughts on what would do that? It doesn't seem like a regular rock chip.

Caused by bird poop? I had a similar mar on a '99 Cougar after I chipped off a hunk of guano.

Dang, could be. My parking pad is under a tree. Disappointing, though. I wash my car car way more than my wife does hers and she doesn't have any marks like that on her 2009 Scion.

Looks like it flaked off from bad prep work at the factory. I bet if you spray that spot at the car wash a bunch more flies off. As long as the clear coat is good bird crap shouldn't hurt it. I always park my truck under a tree. The birds have waged all out war on it for two years and the paint still looks like new.

I have seen similar and it was attributed to a haul away driver dropping a tie down chain/ hook on the roof....Time to get the dealer involved....

ive noticed on my 5g the lower sides of the doors and bed all seem to have paint coming off in little dots like some containment got in. even under where the clear plastic pieces are! plastics peeling off now, too. i dont baby the truck but i do care for it. its in fully enclosed and temp controlled garage if im not driving it. so i know its not sun or weather damages.
i cant spell lol i mean contaminates
