Owners manual

I have the electronic owners manual. downloaded from either here or the Ford site. Does the Ranger come with an actual hard copy of this manual in the glove box? If not, can we call Ford to get one? Not a fan of the electronic version and would love to have one in the Ranger with me at all times. Just in case.

Not quite true. My 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee did not come with one. It came with a DVD condensed version of the owners manual which sucked if the truck wasn’t working. When I called for a printed one I was told it was going to cost me a small fortune. When I mentioned I was still within the return period of the Jeep, I was sent one out Gratis.

I'd guess that the vast majority of owners don't even look at the manual and would be happy to not pay for it. I'd personally be happy if they just provided a printed reference guide and skipped the hard copy of the entire volume of legal disclaimers, but they'd never do that. Partially this is a generational thing--younger folks in general wouldn't even think to look something up in a printed book.

So true, even in our fleet vehicles the manual is there, but the younger guys are always asking what's this do, how do you do this. My first question is did you bother to check the owners manual that's in your new truck? And their answer is oh, never thought of that.

There are so many lights on new vehicles - I know they are supposed to be "universal", but half of them I have no idea what they are trying to tell me. The only way I can figure out what they are for is by looking at the manual.

try pointing them at the instructional videos. I think it's nuts to watch a movie for 5 minutes instead of reading something for 30 seconds, but they seem to be wildly popular.

The paper manuals all cost so much because they are printed in different languages and have to have all of the CYA lawyer crap for total idiots that buy a vehicle but have no clue how to operate it. The problem is also they dont ever look at the owners manual.
