I would do it at no less than 5k. A lot of people go longer. Any less than that is a waste. I do it at 5k with tire rotation. I don't like rotating at more than 5k.I have about 3,200 miles and I keep getting "Urgent - oil change past due" The service guy said I didn't need to change it until 5,000 miles. Is this true and if so how can I turn off the warning message?
Are you saying you have only 3200 total on the odometer, or 3200 since the last oil change? The dealer failed to reset the oil counter on my last change, so I’ve received a couple messages from the Ford app.I have about 3,200 miles and I keep getting "Urgent - oil change past due" The service guy said I didn't need to change it until 5,000 miles. I do the same even though they say you can go 10K. I get my tires rotated at the same time too and with our high heat it's cheap insurance.I would do it at no less than 5k. A lot of people go longer. I forget the warning turn off, pretty sure it's in the owner's manual.
Because the dealer failed to reset my oil life monitor, I’m at 7% oil life remaining with 850 miles to go before I hit 20,000. My climate and usage are less severe than just about anywhere, so I’d bet you would run out of oil life on the GOM before you hit 10k anyway.I do the same even though they say you can go 10K. Yeah NH is a great state and I've spent quiet a bit of time there when I lived in MA. Most of the time my oil life is at about 40-45% when I change it which is surprising. Also I don't run it hard in the summers with the heat but this time of year with the crisp cool days it screams. ??Because the dealer failed to reset my oil life monitor, I’m at 7% oil life remaining with 850 miles to go before I hit 20,000. Thanks, I fixed that problem!Go to the oil change reminder notification screen and reset it to 100%, then either change your oil or wait to the 5,000 mi mark. My local quick oil change place resets it during the oil change. I have 20,000 miles on my 2020 XLT, I have oil changed every 5,000 miles.
I do early oil change on every new car/truck i buy.Usually at @2500 miles to get the metal shavings out.Same with the difIs a 500 mile change even necessary in this time and age? That sounds really old school.
500 isn't enough IMO. I'd go 2K-2500 to give the moving parts time to break in an get the gunk out. If you drive a super low number of miles you might want to change it every 5-6 months even with low miles. I do mine 4 months or 5K. The only way I'll break 5K in less than 4 months is if I travel somewhere during an oil period. Is a 500 mile change even necessary in this time and age? That sounds really old school.
In inherited a 4.0L 1999 Ranger XLT 4x4 with tow package and automatic trans. from my younger brother. He changed the oil every 3,000 miles. the truck now has 270,000 miles and the engine still makes over 9:1 compression in each cylinder. My brother was sort of compulsive about service and even kept a log book with every fill up, oil change and service.I have about 3,200 miles and I keep getting "Urgent - oil change past due" The service guy said I didn't need to change it until 5,000 miles.
