While this trip wan't with my Ranger is was a scouting trip for a potential place to move. I never realized how many great sites there were in this area and while we didn't find a house, it's definitely high on our list of places to relocate to.

We spent all day Friday with the realtor looking at houses in Bella Vista and while there are some really nice ones just nothing (in my price range) I liked. Now I'm toying with the idea of buying a lot and building down the road. With the state of the economy and the prices of everything I'm in a better position to weather "the storm" here.

Saturday we drove all around and checked out more area on our own. First we went down to Bentonville which is the home and birthplace of Walmart. They have a Walmart museum there which is interesting to walk through and I only took these pictures of Sams old Ford.

There was a farmers market going on so we spent a few hours walking around and believe it or not, Annie didn't buy one single thing!:giggle:

After lunch we drove back up to Bella Vista and went for a hike. Luckily there were no accidents on this trip and we (well Annie) made it back unscathed. There was a nice waterfall at the end of this trail and this cave with God knows what living in there.:surprised:

Then we drove over the the Mildred B Cooper Memorial Chapel. It’s a chapel down a short path in the middle of the woods. Many get married here and luckily today we had the place to ourself. The architecture is amazing inside and out.

After the Chapel there's a Veterans Wall Of Honor. It's dedicated to all who have served and there's thousands of names engraved all around it.

Sunday we had a late flight out so we drove over to Pea Ridge and went though the Battlefield Museum. Again, I never knew all this was out there and there's so much to see in this great country that we weren't even aware of.

Dave, you realize that if you move there, or anywhere east, your gonna have to get used to something almost unheard of where you are now...mowing the grass !!!
Mower, yard tractor, weed eater. bagger, blower, seed, fertilizer, weed killer....list goes on and on.

Bella Vista and Bentonville are the mountain bike capital of the country. There are hundreds of miles of trails all through each city and I guess people come from all over to ride them.

It's only a day drive back to Chicago so Annie can visit family and for me I'm half way back home (MA) to see mine. This was also another reason we both loved the area.

Steve, Already have that covered. There are many yards that are just stoned with plants just like out here. lol But if we end up there I think I'd like to have a small front yard with grass. I do miss it I just don't want to be a slave to it like I was back east where I had over an acre to take care of. As far as the leaves go, that's why God created landscapers. :giggle:?

I always love to hear the stories of folks who move to the south (I'm in West TN) from out west: "I had a 200 square foot house in AZ that we sold for $3.87 million and we bought a 10,000 square foot house in Alabama with an indoor pool and 5 bowling lanes for $85,000..." ?

I wish that were the case. lol With the way prices are now I might pocket a little extra cash moving out that way but it could be close to an even wash. Unless I want an older house that's the only way I'd be able to do it but we want a newer (within 10-15 years old) house so it looks like the indoor poll might be on hold for a while. ?

NWA is a great area. We do a lot of day or dinner trips from SWMO, it's about an hour drive for me. Walmart's presence means it has unusually good air connections for a city its size. We took a direct flight to New York this summer.

We wanted to go over to SWMO and explore that area but didn't have enough time. I talked with @MountainGoat about MO but he's not in the SWMO area but said he really loves MO so hopefully on our next trip we'll get over there.

We flew into Tulsa,OK because Southwest doesn't fly into Bentonville. The ones that do are almost triple the price so it was worth the 90 minute drive from Tulsa and it gave us a chance to see more of the area.
