About 25k on my re-arched springs, probably shouldn't have nursed it home.

Guess it's time for plan "B", build some new, progressive rate multi leaf rears.

Not sure why anybody would attempt to re-arch our single leaf spring.

There are a couple of progressive rate multi leafs available for our trucks. That should've been plan A.

Hi Win,

Really would have to have a fracture analysis done, but it may be improper annealing and tempering...fracture looks like it might have been brittle. Speculation at this juncture. See any cracks on the other side?

OK, yes, found an occlusion at the fracture.

So, I doubt the re-arching is the primary cause of the failure.

Thsnks for the offer, fortunately, I still have the original springs to work with. i'd bought a set of take offs to re-arch.

Guessing a press brake, no damage to OEM paint on the springs.

And yes, the Timbren spring took a real pounding.

Note to self: Donā€™t re-arch springs.
Not 100% sure the re-arch is the culprit, but maybe...

Nice idea, but when I lowered the truck, there was nothing on the market except for OME and their option has an even higher spring rate.

Even now, there is nothing off the shelf to lower the back end.

Phil, think you got it in one, there is a clear flaw at the point of failure.

Gotcha, not sure why but I assumed you were going up, not down.

Check the "anybody planning to lower their Ranger" thread.

IIRC Belltech's rear solution is either out or out soon.

Re-arching the main leaf spring, of a spring pack, using a press brake, has been done since the 1920's successfullly. Ours is a mono leaf, but if you think about it... every leaf spring has that same design of one continuous spring. The other springs in the pack don't have the eye.

Awe hell, just slap it back together with JB weld and keep on keeping on.... bawaaa. No seriously to bad this happened, for sure I'm not a fan of our rear leaf springs.
