If so, it’s going to be a wild beast of a small truck. If Ford leans heavily into the ranger I could see them offering a 2.3 and 2.7 for normal trims and the 3.0 for the raptor. On the other hand I’m not 100% convinced they will have this many configurations for the ranger. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if true and if the nonsensical trade in values continue I would certainly be a chin scratcher for many on if it’s worth upgrading.

I completely agree.
I see two possible scenarios:
1) The 3.0 comes in the Raptor and the 2.3 & 2.7 will be available for normal trims.
2) The 2.7 is in the Raptor and other models only have the 2.3
My guess is that the it will be the first option. Ford is offering the 2.3 & 2.7 for all trim levels in the Bronco, so they have to come up with something else for the Warthog. I just can't see the Bronco and the Ranger being different from each other.

I read that and say.... What country? Good chance it's not the United States any time soon, so don't get too excited.

They talk about the current gen Ranger Raptor, which is a 2.0 diesel, not USA, and is actually sluggish in comparison to the USA 2.3 turbo.

True, but they also say the next gen will be globally. Personally I believe the Ranger Raptor is coming, especially since it's all but confirmed there will be a Bronco Warthog.
It's hard to believe Ford wouldn't combat the the ZR2 or Taco Pro. A Ranger Raptor would be an easy build for Ford, as it would basically be a Warthog with a Ranger body (and vice versa).

You’re forgetting the PHEV. That would make four configurations.

Came across this today:
https://fordauthority.com/2021/05/next-gen-ford-ranger-raptor-to-feature-3-0l-ecoboost-v6-exclusive/

Not sure if already been posted somewhere, as I find it hard to believe I'm the first to do so.
My apologizes if it's already posted.

Not sure if the story is true, but gotta' love the Hp/Tq!!
Good find.

I will be disappointed if they don't offer a hybrid engine in the next Ranger. The F-150 hybrid engine is a 3.5L V6 and has 430 horsepower and 570 pounds of torque. Can we get a 3.0L hyrbid engine in the next Ranger, please? And the corresponding power generator? Do that, and I'll upgrade immediately.

The automotive press says it will be PHEV good for 362 HP and 502 lb-ft of torque. It will be our current 2.3 Ecoboost combined with the plug-in hybrid system.

I would gladly take those numbers. When is this going to be available, 2023?

I thought that’s what the Tremor is for?
In my opinion, the tremor is just a FX4 with a lift and only a place-holder. It's hardly an off-road upgrade.

I'd be all over that. 502 lbft of torque!!

If it is like the Ford Escape rollout, then the regular ICE versions are available first followed by the PHEV version. The ICE versions will likely be available sometime in 2022 as a 2023 model.
