For those that actually do get curious and don't like the BFG or General ATX, Bridgestone just released a new tire last month!

This tire is the Dueler A/T Ascent. It has various sizes available with 17-22 inch wheels in both P and LT Load Ranges. I personally found out about the tire today and got to see one in person. It is supposed to be the predecessor to the Dueler Revo 3(which I wasn't much of a fan of). Up close it has a nice structure showing it's durability. The sidewall is pretty tough overall. It also has an old school style tread design for an All-Terrain.

Now personally I will be getting a set for my 2012 Frontier this coming weekend in 265/70-18. I'm looking forward to trying the. Out. How will they do? I have no idea, but I do have some high hopes for them!

If interested here is a link to Bridgestone's website with those tires.

Well I now have my Tires Installed!! It's abit too soon to say how they will be, but I can say I do like them already!!

On the ride home from the Tire Shop the ride was certainly quiet. Thanks to the bit of wind out today it's hard to say how the MPG was affected. That will be some time. I will be taking a drive to Colorado Springs tomorrow for my Chiropractor, so I can get a better assessment on the tires in general.

With that said here they are!!

For those wondering, this is the 265/70-18 Passenger Tire. The old tires were 265/75-16 Pathfinder AT Tires made in Indonesia. The Bridgestone Tires are made in Canada.

Small update for what it's worth.

Along with the fact that these tires are quiet, I can say that they are surprisingly more forgiving compared to the last set of tires even with me having less sidewall available. I'm going to make my best guess on this and say it has to do with the quality of the tires. One thing I have known with most good name brand tires is that they seem to be a bit more on the plush side vs the off brand tires that are usually made in China, Taiwan or Indonesia that don't seem to have good quality control.

I also want to add that for an All-Terrain, these certainly have good response on the street when you need it. I don't know how, but it just sticks to the pavement and will allow you to turn when you request vs some tires that seem to have a delay.

I. A last note going back to the ride quality, I decided to hit a quick dirt road by my place for kicks as it tends to be washboarded often. Already having the Bilstein 6112 and 5160s installed before with the old tires, I can say these definitely made the ride.much better. Again keep in mind that both are Passenger Rated tires and I lost 0.5 inches of sidewall. A surprise at the least, but certainly important to consider

I like them!
It may just be me, but they look a bit under inflated inflated.

Probably a you thing as they are set to 35 PSI which is what the truck calls for.

Got a small update.

Had a good rain storm the other night and took the truck out to see how the tires would do. Now keep in mind that my Frontier has a fair amount of weight in the back, so it can be challenging to spin tires vs if the bed was empty.

Now I have ran all sorts of tires over the last 14 years. That includes a variety cheap tires and good name brand tires. One of the things I would look for in the early days was Wet Traction(even in Arizona where people claim it doesn't Rain). Out of every tire I have ran, I have found both the Firestone and Bridgestone Tires to do the best while still being reasonable on price.

With the rain I delt with the other day I was able to get a good grasp on how the tires will do. To say the least these tires are doing great!! Probably the best set of tires I have ever had in wet conditions!! It's almost like it is on dry pavement!! Don't ask me how Bridgestone did it, but they pulled it off!!

With all that I am certainly looking forward to the Winter Performance!!

Got another update on these Tires.

Thanks to the Winter Storm that just hit Colorado, I was able to take the truck out and test these tires out. I will say the results were good in a sense of know what these things are good for and not good for.

In Dry and Wet(as in Rain) these tires do well. When it comes to Snow Covered Roads, these are not a great idea. The traction was very poor and it made me have to slow down incredibly vs other tires that I have ran. I remember having better luck with Hankook Dynpro ATM's if that tells you anything.........

All in all I can say it's a good set of tires for those who don't deal with Winter Conditions and may want to go on Basic Trails. If you have to deal with Winter Conditions, I would recommend a different set of tires or have a dedicated set of Winter Tires.

Shame about the winter performance as I quite like the tread pattern. It reminds of the old logging truck tires a little.

Well if anything it is a reminder that just because a Tire has the 3 Peak Rating, it doesn't mean it's going to come close to the performance of a Snow Tire

3 peak rating indicates the tire can meet a minimum standard for acceleration (straight line) in medium packed snow. Nothing more than that, plus like other ratings such as UTQG most mfg rate the tire themselves.

Indeed, also part of why I will state that tires like such are NOT Snow Tires. Some individuals like to get confused on that stuff

Keep in mind tire chains are only good in certain situations. They do not apply to all situations
I beg to differ, only limited by the imagination. =D
