Today we went to the store and I helped my wife get out her side, closed the door and couldn't lock it with the touch feature. The driver's side still works. It appears something died. Won't lock or unlock from the handle. I see sync had recently done an auto update and wonder if this could be a result. So much for these fancy features that come in a lariat. Guess I'll add it to my list of problems cropping up a little after 2 years and 5k miles.

I don't think so. The drivers side works and key pad works. I tried with my fob and my wife tried with her fob so doesn't sound like that either.

Thanks, I'll put it on the charger tonight. It sure would stink to need a battery every 2 1/2 years.
How much do you drive?

Mine is original and I have to keep it charged and desulfated every couple of days. Going to bite the bullet and get it replaced in the next couple of weeks.

Usually twice a week we go out. A couple days ago did the 80 mile round trip to Costco. I'm wondering if the auto update had something to do with it. Once the weather gets colder I leave the Ctech trickle charger on it.
I have never put a charger on my wife's forester that's the same age and it sits longer then this between uses. Can't wait for Subaru to start making the pickups.

Mine as well as my back doors has done that once in a while, my fob batteries needed replaced plus I did the sync restart /reset and it fixed it. Not sure how much the sync reset helped but I was having a glitch with the touch screen as well.

My '19 did this on a few occasions and then the battery died right around 18 months, it did have 2 dead cells and was replaced under warranty. Even with the new one every once in a while the passengers door and the rear proximity sensors wouldn't work. I bought my maintainer and started charging it several days a week and that solved the issue.

Now I only drive mine a couple days a week too and always leave the Ctech charger on it. It doesn't take much to start draining these with all the tech stuff that's in them now.

I still have my original battery in my 19 but I know I'm on borrowed time so it's on my buy soon list.

In my experience with Fords in general, the factory installed batteries are junk. I had particular trouble with a 2007 V6 Mustang that if you left anything on when it was parked not running, you would quickly (less than 30 minutes) have a stone dead battery. I had it checked at a dealer and the Service Mgr. told me that everything (charging system, battery, etc) was up to specs but Ford just installed crap batteries. Had a 2014 F150 that liked to destroy batteries until I bit the bullet and bought a top tier replacement. I can say that my Ranger (2021 XLT 14500 mi) has had no battery problems and with the original coming up on 4 years in FEB 2025.

Truck battery fully charged on float, new battery in remote. No change. Everything else works fine. Do I loose all the settings if I unhook the battery to try and reset it ?
