I have been hoping the Robin Electronics bed light system would become available again but no luck. With no response from the company as to when they might be made available again, I started looking for something else. I looked at the suggestions of others on this site and there are great ideas on this site. Since I still am holding out hope for the Robin kit, I have been looking for a temporary solution (plus I don't want to do an install in the winter in MN).

I was at Harbor Freight today and came across this. The light switch was $2.49 and the magnets were $0.99. It runs off 4 AA batteries (batteries included) and the magnets easily stick to the light switch and the bed where I have the Linex spray in liner. We will see how it works but it fully lights up the bed and if I want to move the switch somewhere else due to loading in the bed, it is easy to do.

For what it is worth.

That is a good idea. I like that you can move the lights to where they are needed. How weather proof do they seem? I guess that might not matter with a bed cover. Or can keep them in the cab until needed. There is a Harbor Freight not far from me. I may have to pay them a visit.

I wasn’t too worried about them getting wet. I looked online just a short while ago and the price went up to $3.99. I have also seen these at Menards in the area where you walk in in the Knick knack area. Can’t recall the price.

Hmmm, you know what, we have these switch lights at my dealership and I've always hated the design but I think in the back of the bed might be a perfect spot for them.

Hmm... this makes me think. We have these motion sensor cabinet LED lights in some of our cabinets, they are attached via a built-in magnet and can be set so that they don't turn with movement when there's daylight. They're super bright and are charged via USB. I think I'm going to move two into my truck's bed to see how it goes.
