I avoided downloading music to my phone to avoid taking up space an I tend to do other stuff with the phone like use the GPS, read up on the news an social media. Phones may do multiple tasks at the same time ok but they sure seem to get hot when streaming or doing multiple tasks at once.
I don't run out to get the latest phone as soon as it's released. I try to use the phone as long as I can to avoid chucking out another $800+ on a phone so maybe the new 5G phones are better at it, but then again I'm not in a 5G coverage area most of the time (yet, the tower is supposed to go up soon). Some of the rural areas near me aren't the best reception zones either.
Most iphones have at least 32 gigs worth and also storage is not the same thing as RAM (the thing used to multitask and run stuff alongside the processor. I would hope you arent reading or on social media when driving lol but just fyi even an old iphone 4 can run waze or apple maps and play music together just fine. If streaming music makes it turn into a pocket warmer I would try downloading I have a ton of music downloaded and its still only taking up like a gig

My music won't fit on a phone. I have over 1,100 disc's that were copied in FLAC format. They take up about 200GB's of space. Call me what you want, but I had to put them on a flash drive. Not sure what a thumb drive is... ?

I use Pandora. The free version. I've been using it over 10 years. The app has a pretty good idea of what I like now.

I've also got 2 big books of CDs on a flash drive when I want to reminisce.

I think it's 313. I just started listening to it a couple weeks ago when Bob @Bob902 mentioned it in another post. They have a good mix and don't seem to repeat the songs like Hair Nation does. You're right they play Tesla so much they should rename it the Tesla station. lol
Years ago I took a girlfriend to see Firehouse and Tesla. She wanted to see Firehouse and I've never been much on Tesla. We waited till the second song into their set, and decided to leave. As were walking through the lobby at the Fox in St. Louis, people are just streaming out. Everyone was there to see Firehouse and didn't stay for Tesla.

Yeah when I read thumb drive I laughed out loud. Downloading to your phone and using carplay and one of the many aforementioned apps works way better and more ergonomically
I'm stumped. Using a thumb drive, I plug it in, let it index and then put it on shuffle and let it go for days. How much more ergonomic can I get. Plug and forget. My Ranger isn't wireless so I would have to connect my phone every time, that's a pain.
But I have the Motorola Adapter so I'm going to try that this weekend.

Tesla is a very underrated hair band.

That's what I do on my Harley. Besides the phone doesn't quite fit in the cubby where the usb line is. There's a second USB on the Sony radio inside the fairing but I get a ton of static when I use it. It's right next to a cheap aftermarket LED headlight. I might try swapping the halogen back in to see if that cures the static.

I have a pretty large music collection and much of it goes on the road with me on an old school iPod. iHeart Radio and Apple Music fill the voids (less then $20/month for both). I didn’t realize Amazon Prime had music included, need to check that out.
Yeah, Amazon Prime has a pretty amazing music service included, and it is changing over to HD on many selections, which really does sound a lot better, even on our stock Ranger music systems. The first day I tried listening to HD in the truck, the wife asked, "How come the music sounds so much clearer today?"

I use Apple Music mostly. Get the best of both worlds: stations to discover new music/mix it up and the ability to download songs/playlists for use offline - good for road-trips, off road adventures (anywhere you might lose signal). Throw in a couple predownloaded podcasts for a break from the tunes and I’m set to go anywhere!

All, I'm curious about what services you use to get your groove on in your Ranger.
I currently have All Access SiriusXM but I'm getting a little worn on Tesla and Queensryche.
I pay $115 for All Access/Platinum SiriusXM and use it on the road, in the office and in the shower.

Share what you use and how you make it work? And cost if you're willing.
Wow, I am overly disappointed....... Burnt out on Tesla and Queesnryche? What is wrong with you!?!?!?

Ok, in all seriousness, and this is coming from someone who is family friends with the guys from Tesla, and grew up listening to both Tesla and Queensryche (and Leppard, and Skid Row, and Crue, and owns an original 1984 pressing of Scorpions Love at First Sting) and saw both bands multiple times before the age of 23...... I get it. There's a lot of newer bands I am into as well, and I feel like they didn't carry over the newer material to SiriusXM very well, considering it took probably a solid year before anything from Prequelle by Ghost made it to any of the channels......

My family has a Spotify family plan, and with having Android Auto built into Sync 3, it's easy enough to navigate. Considering I swing back between early 2000s Skate Punk, 80s Glam bands, insert genre of Metal here, and then at the end of it all find myself trying to rap old Beastie Boys and Run-DMC, the different mixes definitely suit my style.

I think the family plan is like $15 a month. I'd say its worth it if you have several folks involved.
