I was talking with a taco friend about going out mudding and he said that I should get a diff breather… for you experienced tremor mudders, is there anything I will need to do to this truck to enjoy mudding? A list of accessories needed to keep the truck safe while mudding?
Any recommendations would be appreciated

the rear diff breather is fairly high up so i wouldnt worry about it. if its under water you likely have bigger issues lol. the front however is lower. dont waste money on the diff breather kit from ARB. ARB makes good stuff but the fittings do not work with the ranger / bronco. You would have better luck and save money to get your own fittings and line at an auto part place and extend the line up on the fire wall. a lot of stories of ruined alternators from being caked up with mud are on the net. while the issues is possible its not what the internet has made it out to be. solution is simple, give it a look after a crossing or deeper mud blast. if its got nasty stuff in it or caked with mud spray it off with water asap and get it clean.

Who are you talking to? Did the responder's reply get deleted, or are you impatient that no one replied within 30 minutes?

Anyway, I don't do 4x4, but I thought all diffs had breathers. I have heard of off roaders relocating the breather as to not get water in the diff.

He's responding to what 9zero1790 said.
I don't think he's impatient.
He's polite.

I was in quite a bit of mud and water when on Drummond Island. Did not have any issues afterwards. I checked all my fluid levels ( except transmission) afterwards and no water. But it seemed like days getting it cleaned underneath afterwards. First pic is one of the mud holes we encountered . It’s a screen grab from TFL as nobody in our group managed to get pics

WOW! That looks pretty deep ?
No issues with water in the cab? Any specific mods you had to do for your truck? Your tailpipe had to be under water…

Id be more worried about upgrading the alternator than diff breather. From my understanding, this is the weak point for mudding/water with the 5G Ranger.

All dry inside. Bone stock truck and tail pipe was submerged a few times. The key is to go slow and don’t stop. I used the trail control set at 2 mph to get through that stretch. It worked great

When you say upgrading the alternator, what recommendations would you have?

I have yet to try trail control.. I guess I should see how that actually works… I mean I know how it supposed to work but have never had a situation where I thought to use it.. I’m such a noobie ??‍♂
