Hi Folks,

A back story before my time at Ford from one of my Supervisors of a material area that was around at the time.

The company went to Le Mans with potent race cars, but the cars broke their transmission input shalfs and did not finish (DNF) the race. Chuck M was called from his bed asleep to get to the material lab. Analysis of the failed shafts showed that the material was soft on one side of the shaft and hardened on the other side. It turned out the Brits started with hardened round stock, centerless ground the shaft and then cut the splines for the clutch. Made a crack me here input shaft. So with this knowledge, the next year, Ford won the race!.... So here is a little UBI of knowledge for you... I will never see the movie. I detest the Crash em Bang em of Hollywood..

I recommend you give it a chance Phil, you won't regret it. I saw it today and it's not a typical Hollywood racing/car chase movie. It's an excellent film, even though I knew about how it would end.
