I'm trying to figure out what are some good "mid travel" options to increase rear travel for the Ranger, without having to do something like making a bed rack and putting the shocks through the truck bed. Driving wise I would mostly just be trying to drive dirt roads fast / pretend I have a prerunner. I've had my Ranger for a few months and I'm obsessed with it haha.
Best plan I've come up with so far is a BDS lift shackle, Deaver/ICON leaf springs, and shorter bump stops. And then maybe Bilstein 5160s. Does that make any sense? Does the BDS shackle add any extra travel? (as far as I understand it just moves the spring shackle lower about an inch). Conceptually speaking I don't understand how a different leaf spring would add much travel unless it also adds some lift, which I'm fine with. How much travel would I be gaining roughly with this setup?
Seems like the next step would be removing the rear bumper and getting a longer leaf spring / changing the spring mount points, and maybe swapping to a spring under system... which would be awesome.
Something like the Archive Garage rear shock relocation mounts for Toyotas would be sick but I'm not sure that would really fit on a Ranger.
I currently have Bilstein 6112s up front and 285/70R17s, and a 2" lift block in the back. I'm also considering Icon or Camburg UCAs which are supposed to give a bit more front travel. I welcome your thoughts! Thanks!!
