Let me ask you all one more thing.
When you take the oil fill cap off while the engine is idling.... does it make a different sound?
I wanted to see if i was getting ring blow by, so I took the cap off, and deep exhaust sound came out. No smoke or anything, but definitely a low tone sound.

No CEL dealer appointment on Friday, but I'm without a truck until then. Will check the spark plugs and see
Did the dealer get a chance to look at it Friday? Curious what they find.

Well, there is a new engine on order from Ford, but i have had an explanation of what happened.
They said there is lots of metal in the oil filter though, so I asked them to make sure none of that metal made it's way into the turbo.
I'll try to keep you all updated.

If you can, ask what failed and the cause of the failure. Don't know if they will tell you but would be nice to know. These engines are supposed to be pretty robust and I've only seen a couple of threads with engine failure, so not worried just curious.

I asked for a meeting with the foreman to go over the engine when they confirmed mine was bad so feel free to try that with your dealer. I asked about the turbo as well since I had a bad rod bearing in cyl 4 (metal in oil) but they said the turbo was not a concern with this type of issue (time will tell). There is a pre-screen of some sort to keep the large stuff out they mentioned but my lines were fine.

The foreman said remanufactured long blocks are oil pan to valve cover. Supposedly new internals but likely rebuilt blocks/head castings is my guess. With 2k miles on the new engine, all feels fine (after they bolted the trans to the crossmember).

I am gonna rant, I was quick to put 1k miles on it because we would be towing soon, took a nice long trip to Park City, UT. Heard a clunk when accelerating from a stop at first, started to think huh, front shocks need a rebuild? Then at startup, crawled under the truck and sure enough, trans was NOT bolted to the crossmember.

I also notice two dings on my hood the tech did because they are from the inside out right where the hood strut area, looks like he disconnected them and put them in the opening of the hood frame. Also the trans was wet, there were some drops on my driveway but stopped so likely residual.

So I go in for my 1k oil change, I complain about it, they took a full day (meaning I picked up the end of next day) to do this so I was thinking cool, they are gonna have their PDR guy remove the dings, nope. I get a call an hour or so before closing that the truck is ready but the the advisor says he is heading home. I get there and the oil change is being charged at full price and the dings are still there.

Gotta love Ford customer service standards. At least the truck runs well now. I was tempted to just get a new truck but I really love this truck and I do not care for any of the new ones.
