From the UAW's press release these are the first to go out, hopefully it won't be a long one and they could come to a fair deal for both sides.

Michigan Assembly
Ford's assembly plant in Wayne employees close to 3,000 workers who are represented by Local 900.
The plant, located next to the stamping assembly, currently manufactures the Bronco and Ranger - two important vehicles in Ford's fleet.

Toledo Assembly
Located in northern Ohio, Stellantis' plant in Toledo builds the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator. Its employees are represented by Local 12.

Wentzville Assembly
In Wentzville, Missouri, GM manufacturers four vehicles: The Chevrolet Colorado, the GMC Canyon, the Chevrolet Express, and the GMC Savana.
Local 20 represents some 4,114 workers at the plant.

I have mixed feelings on this strike. I'm all for worker's rights and fair pay but the raises that are being asked for seem a bit high. I'm a member of a union with a brand new contract we ratified about 3 weeks ago. The negotiators had to put some concessions aside so we could get a 3% cost of living raise. I read that some of the UAW demands are significant as far as costs.

I wonder what would happen if I demanded a 40%+ raise. Actually I think I know what would happen.
You might get promoted to the executive level???

But seriously, after watching people like Mary Barra take home over $100,000,000.00 in just two years, I don't blame the workers for wanting a bigger share of the pie.

It's a bold stance for the UAW to take on all three at once, but hey, why not take down the most profitable plants first. Make each company feel the pain and play them off each other. That's what they do every time it comes to allocating new plants and model builds, they whipsaw the communities we live in against each other to see who will do it cheaper, with more tax breaks and getting everyone kissing their ass to get a plant they gotta build somewhere anyway??? Annnnd blah blah blah... So hit the the plants that they make the most money from. Good luck to them😎

I also read they want a 32 hour work week, but 40 hours pay. I find that a bit offensive.

I thought they had an offer of 20% pay increase, so that's essentially the same thing. I don't think it is realistic to ask that change (32 hour week) to be implemented right away. Give the company time to revamp the schedule and bring on new shifts.

With a 4 day work week and 5 weeks paid vacation plus 17 paid holidays...if my math is right that all adds up to 90 paid days off a year. Oh and retiree pay...retiree medical benefits. All for a bunch of bolt tighteners. Ford should just dissolve the company and rename it Foyota.

Yes my Ranger was made at the Michigan plant!! Don't they already make a pretty good wage? Granted everything is getting very expensive but you have to draw a line sometimes. Another point is most unions have made concession after concession for the past 30 + years so maybe they do need to stand there ground?.

I heard that they are asking for a 30% pay raise. They are also concerned about losing jobs due to ramp up in EV production, which will require 30% less workers.
I bet they will still vote democrat, though.

If I worked at the Toledo, OH plant, I'd probably go on strikes too. What with having to build Jeeps.
