Hey Everyone,

I recently purchased a 2022 Ranger Tremor in early April. I have been loving the truck, but can't help but notice the low speed shudder typically until 10-11 mph. I have read through dozens of forums regarding TSBs, and various "fixes," but unless I am wrong there does not seem to be a concrete solution to fix this..

The truck is still under factory warranty. Is it worth going and having my dealer perform a TSB in hopes that I am one of the lucky ones? I have thought about swapping to the single piece driveshaft instead of the factory 2-piece, but I would rather not void my warranty.

Let me know your thoughts!

Suspension mods? The wheels are aftermarket. Spacers? Is everything tight?

I was under the truck yesterday checking, did not see anything that appeared to be loose or out of place. Will probably double check and see if there was something I missed.

It's not something you're going to "see" you're going to have to put wrenches on things and verify they're tight.

The wheels look like they're outside the fenders. So either the wheels have non standard offset or they have spacers. If they have spacers, they could be loose.

It looks lifted, if so depending on what kit was used and whether it was installed properly it may need to be tightened up or maybe something is worn out and needs to be replaced.

Making modifications can be fun, but be aware when you roll into the dealership to ask for warranty assistance that they're likely to laugh if you're modifications are found to have contributed to the issue.

Good call, I will check to see if everything is tight and hope to find the solution that way.

It does have spacers, so one of those very well could be loose. Hoping nothing needs to be replaced, but if that is the case so be it.

The unfortunate slippery slope of the aftermarket..

Thank you for your help!

here is TSB doc from Ford. May not be your issue. Have you trade a Reset of the Learning Systems. Unplug the battery for 10mins. then drive 20 min to rest the learning on the Keep alive Memory. Or reset if you have a Procal 4. I do a Reset after tuning.

Are you sure it isn't just the motor at low RPMs? The Ranger have this weird bogging feeling under 1100 RPMS. I got used to it. kinda little it hums.

Thanks for the TSB. I have not tried a Learning Systems reset, may give that a try this afternoon.

It does not seem to be the motor at low RPMs. Its like a shaky vibration right around 10mph, then it drives normal right after.

That is the latest TSB for the transmission issues. Sounds like you have the startup shudder
There is a different TSB for the startup shudder, that involves setting the pinion angles. That is the solution that is hit or miss on whether it helps or not. Thankfully I do not have this issue on my 2019 XLT. With the wheels spacers and apparent lift on yours, I don't think the dealer will do much for you under warranty. Only fix I have heard of that is pretty much guaranteed is the single piece drive shaft. My personal theory is there is to much play in the resilient mounting of the support bearing in the drive shaft. But. That's just my theory, no proof.

Sorry to hear your issue and hope you can get it solved.

Hmm. Yeah, that seem like a setup issue with the suspension, tires, ext. The solution I gave is for poorly map shifting issues that the ecu logged over time. Say you drove bad gas or like granny. The ecu logs that and delivers different performance. I would update my truck say with a intake. Then reset KAM and go drive around how I like and the Trans compliments my style. But what you are saying feels like harmonics issue. My old ranger would shake like crazy at 65 mph, at 70 it felt normal.

You'll need to find an old school allignment guy that understand camber, caster and Toe. I run a neg 25 offset after market rim and it has a tendacy to lose allignment through camber? which I believe wears the inner tire surface. I get that low speed shudder too and I'm due for an alignment again.

It’s called a Tremor for a reason…

But in all seriousness I hope you figure out what’s going on with your truck.

The dealer will not try to fix it under warranty with the mods, or at least most won’t. With that wheel offset you are asking for trouble. I’m sure the driveline angles aren’t ideal.
