I have a 2Ltr bi turbo with 10 speed gearbox. At start up from cold the vehicle will not go forward or reverse it just revs. If I wait a while it will then move. Ford service say they can't find anything wrong.
Am I the only one with this issue ? Also the gearbox missing gears supposed to be for efficiency to my mind is just a rubbish product. Is there anything that can be done to address these issues. Thanks for reading

Hi Ranger Pride. Are you saying an engine tune or a gearbox re calibration, I've been searching for someone to change gearbox settings.
As for the loss of pressure at start up, it happens in both hot or cold weather. Very frustrating. Ive sent the car back to ford 5 times and the issues stay the same. Thanks for your reply

Your in Australia, this is more a NA forum, we don't have the same drivetrain as you/motor but I believe the same 10 spd.
Not sure I remember someone having this issue, even in Canadian winters.

I hope someone can help you out, maybe find another dealer to check it out?
By far, most here would not call our trucks rubbish.
Good luck.

I apologise for calling it rubbish, the frustration of not getting satisfaction from the dealers has made me bitter. Thanks for your reply.

Hey, things happen.
I loss the brakes cuz they installed the brake line wrong from factory & it was
rubbing on the wheel. They fixed, all good. I was not impressed.....
Try Jim's idea, sounds good to me.
I know someone who bought a Tesla for 90k & it had to go back twice before they even hit 500km.
Now that's impressive!

Our NA-spec 10R80 transmissions are designed to skip gears under light loading- much like riding a 10+ spd bicycle. It sounds like low fluid level or a pressure solenoid that is faulty. Does it slowly ease into motion when this happens, or does power come on abruptly?

I’m agreeing with Chris here. Mine skips gears all the time under normal driving conditions. If you use tow mode or sport shift you hit every gear. Now on not engaging at all sounds like low fluid levels or a faulty solenoid. From what you have said that would be easily reproduced by dealer checking it out.

Here’s the thing about dealers, they’re like people. Some you like and some well don’t deserve the time of day. Go to another one and get it looked at. It’s under warranty still so if you do have issues it need to be logged. Calling Ford customer care and filing a complaint with them also has its way of dealers taking you issues seriously.

Let us know how it works out!

I wonder what he means by if he waits a while: like 5 seconds or minutes. How I'm reading his post it sounds like the transmission isn't engaging not that it is skipping gears.

The engine revs and will rev high if I let it, then I take my foot off the accelerator and reapply pressure and I’d start correctly. Once process this has happened It behaves normally. I believe it’s a faulty solenoid that allows the oil pressure to escape. That said, if I start the car and let it idle for 20 seconds and put it in gear it behaves normal.
ive never had a vehicle act like this befor. Thanks
