Locked out again this morning

It's so much better there than just sticking it on the door. I saw another where they stuck it under the rear window which is a nice spot too.

I guess for the price of some 3M tape I could always move it. But underneath the door handle it really is not very noticeable. The handle and the keypad are both black so that helps.

I like the one who mounted it on the black trim behind the driver door glass. It is in the same place as the F-150. It would be better if you could get the numbers to then display properly so it looks like it was intended to be vertical.

I put mine inside the fuel door though.

Oh one for the way back pc machine eh! Well I use to build PC’s on my dining room table and resell them now this is back with the first IBM 286 8080’s with dial up modems. I had (still have board) of the first 386 PC. Was one of the first to use Boston Citynet https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_CitiNet I met a lot of other local geeks. Now mind you this is mid 1980’s. I met my wife on Citynet. So might also be the first Internet marriage.

Now mind you this is mid 1980’s. I met my wife on Citynet. So might also be the first Internet marriage.

I did the same, breadborded a Apple1 on my coffee table, used a cassette recorder for program storage, 8K of RAM. Copied my programs out of the back of MacWorld mag's. The recite was signed by Jobs (when they were working out of the garage). Sure wish I still had that Had a Amiga 1000, damn fine machine, best graphics around, beat Apple & MS but because it was made by a game machine company, sure you can guess. I programmed in Pascal, fortran, ADA, and of course COBOL. I dumped MS years back and am now a MACOS guy.

Did the key in the truck for the gym a few times... Then AT&Ts signal was crap I guess.. got to stand around like a dummy in the parking lot for more than a few minutes while it thought about unlocking the truck. Now I just use the locker and my key based remote start.

Just get the keypad. That is what I did for mine. The odds of phone and the keypad not working at the same time are very slim.

Yep, The first version of Windows, released in Nov 1985, was simply a GUI offered as an extension of Microsoft's existing disk operating system, MS-DOS, and looked like this.

I think my 5.25" floppies with Windows 1.0 for Zenith Systems may predate that one just a little.

Back in the 80s-90s my dad ran a multi-modem BBS in Eastern NC. I remember the old TI-99/4A that I learned to code on when I was a kid. I still have one of those computers and the last time I connect it, it still worked. I think my first PC was a 386 he have me in 94-95. Then I got a 486 DX2. Then I got an IBM with a Pentium, I think it was 75mhz.

My first build from parts (not upgrades to what I had) was in a full tower case, Asus P2B-DS motherboard, 2x Pentium II 300mhz processors, 1GB of ram, 10k rpm SCSI drive (maybe 18GB), ATI all in wonder 128 Pro, Plextor SCSI read and write drives (bit-bit copy). Later I add a pair of Voodoo 2 12Mb card, I had the old VooDoo in the IBM and loved it. But the added power proved to be too much and I about caught the ATX power connector on the motherboard on fire. Had to replace it and while I was I added additions Molex power leads to the other side of the motherboard and it was fine after that. Shortly after this GPUs starting having their own power inputs.

Wanted the KIM-1 when I first saw one at college, but couldn't afford it. I eventually got a Timex-Sinclair ZX-81, (with 16k RAM pack) and the first computer with a real keyboard was an Atari 800 (Now with 48k RAM!). I typed in a BUNCH of programs out of magazines.

Actually there is a physical key in the fob. Still, not much help if the keys are locked in the truck:

Here in the snow belt, door locks frequently would freeze, sometimes solid enough to where you couldn't even get it inserted in the slot. Then if you did, the key wouldn't turn. Heating the key with a cigarette lighter then inserting it in the lock and working it eventually would free the lock cylinder.
We just traded one problem for another.

But you do have to worry about dead battery on the pad. There's always a downside.

My Lariat still has a physical key just for internet down and dead fob battery reasons. So did my VW. I've not seen a vehicle that can only be opened remotely ever.

In case you didn't know there's the spot in the center cup holder where you can reactivate your dead fob. This will at least let you start your truck and get you home.

lol so far no one has ripped mine off. I love it and frequently use it when I'm at the lake and don't want to keep track of my keys.
