Ok my great grandsons didn’t want to go anywhere. So one of them super glued the key fob I let my granddaughter use to my ceramic countertop button side down. Now none of the buttons will push anymore. At least the key still comes out. None of the 3 will admit it. Looks like they will be walking to school until someone starts talking..

WTF I’ve never heard of this before..

You can try to take it apart and clean out the glue. When you remove the back off to change the battery, there is a small screw. That is where I would start. If this is your only fob, I would fork over a couple hundred dollars for a new set so that you have a backup. I am unable to locate disassembly instructions, but I did find this thread, which indicates that it is a starting point.

Thanks Grey I have a Lariat with keyless entry and push button start plus it was my spare. So just no push button options otherwise can unlock, start and lock. I’m finding OEM replacements at insanely low price.

What angers me is lack of respect and their mom’s lack of care… I was just pissed and still am, at least the replacement cost is now way down. I’ll let them walk a week to school and back, 1.1 mile each way. Friggin spoiled kids these days…

Sounds like me when super glue first came out. I messed with one of my sisters super glue and got all 4 fingers stuck together with the glue tube stuck on my thumb ? i used a razor blade to release myself , nice cuts here and there.

On a side note acetone dissolves relatively fresh super glue, nail polish remover that has acetone in it is less harsh but less effective. I keep straight acetone in a gallon container in my woodshop because I use the glue often. If you try it do so on an inconspicuous spot to make sure it won't harm your counter tops
I've safely used it on thick formica, corian and stone. It doesn't Ike plastic much if left on it for very long. I spilled some on my steel table saw top and let it dry, it popped right off with gentle putty knife action. If you are okay trying it put some on a Q tip and get it around the edges to see if it will wiggle free, I'd suggest safety glasses, it's harsh on the eyes. If you get it removed then I'd try a q tip of it around the edges of the keys one at a time. Just don't saturate it , I don't think the circuit board would like it slow and gentle just to try and loosen the buttons one at a time.

since the buttons are face down, it may not have run down into the fob, try gently pushing the buttons in to try and free them up hopefully it didnt get dumped inside 1st.

Rubbing alcohol might work.

They also make a super glue remover, sold in woodworking stores and probably online but it's sloooow process but made for glue that's been set for while. If you try any of this it's at your discretion don't let acetone sit long or puddle just in case...acetone will eventually start to blister the cheap film on osb shelving, that's basically a taped on kinda finish on top. The edges are iffy

Attached is a pic of one brand of remover.

Their moms lack of caring worries me the most. Without parental caring or discipline, they're going to be nightmares when they get older.
Parents need to parent.

Just a kid's prank; let it go.
if you think making them walk to school will be a good lesson, walk with them, then. I don't know where you live or how old your little rascals are, but human trafficking is on the rise in the US and in some areas they are more emboldened.
As you said, the replacement cost is way down, and this wouldn't have happened if you had kept the fob in your pocket

I gotta disagree.
At some point children need to be taught not to harm other people's property, and by extension, other people. The cost to replace may be negligible to him, but it's not nothing.

A Fart cushion in the recliner is a prank. This was destruction of property " because they didn't want to go anywhere". That's a bad train of thought to just let go in my opinion.

And you're right. Walking with them to school if that's his choice of punishment is a good compromise, I think.

Reminds me of someone I know. Their kids are monsters, they like to smash glasses and plates. The parents don't seem to care (I guess they only use paper plates and cups???). Only explanation I can come up with is they're coked up on anti-depressants to the point caring or getting angry is impossible.

Totally agree, they need to learn actions have consequences. No consequences is approval of their actions and will just lead to more similar or worse actions in the future. If I had done something like this when I was young I wouldn't be sitting down for a week. Now you would probably get sued for child abuse. Parents need to be parents in more than just name.

Christmas is coming, I assume they all want things (parents included) that's the absolute best morning to teach a lesson, an unforgettable one, about OPP(other people's property), yeah you know me,
Words mean nothing anymore, they HAVE to feel it and it has to hurt for a while...

Probably saw it on Ticktock. That site gets many young children in trouble and even killed.

Christmas is coming a nice gift for the kids and parents might be the glued key FOB minus the pull out key.
