I see a lot of folks getting all excited over a Raptor version of the Ranger for offroad driving.
I drive on the road or roadrace course.
I would really like to see a "Lightning" version of the ultimate 2WD Ranger.
Something like a few suspension mods, lowering kit, a performance tune, nix the two piece drive shaft,
modify some of the programming for braking and handling etc..
Oh! and street tires, real sticky and stiff ... Tires made for pavement!
Don't forget Limited Slip!

Just like the "Thunderbolt" ranger of the mid 00's? That would be kind of cool. Not for me, but cool for someone :) Basically a body kit on an already heavy and slow truck.

They should make a better power pack for this run.

I was thinking more like the F-150 Lightning with real performance mods,

Something like this...

Sounds good I think Ranger Thunderbolt would be a good name for it with the 350hp RS engine or even better the 400hp 3.0v6 form the 2020 Explorer.

From the tuning numbers people are getting, we have the RS motor :) My guess is it's almost if not entirely identical other than the fan casting on the front of the block and some motor mounts. A fat tune would be sufficient (IMO) for a Ranger Thunderbolt as it wouldn't be able to hook on stock power.

Totally agree. Then I'd want the license plate that says "1.21 GW".

My last pick up was a Black 1999 F-150 Lightning that I bought new. It was a lot fun to drive! But was not very practical. It easily smoked the tires but wheel hopped a lot! Could not drive it in Michigan winters! Required premium gas only & got less than 12 MPG!

A Ranger Lightning would be lightning fast, lighter and more fuel efficient and handle great!
Besides, who wants to be in Michigan in the winter anyway?:crackup:

At least the roads in Michigan in the winter are solid. Currently they are confused whether they want to be liquid, or gas.

These ones have decided squarely on Liquid

And these ones are flip flopping between gas and solid.
