Has anyone found a decent key fob protector for the Lariat fob? The guy at the Ford parts desk told me that the fobs are not the same, meaning the Lariat has a bigger / different one than xlt, as example. He also said they do not have any Ford protectors and none of the aftermarket ones fit the Lariat fob - yet.

I wish they would shrink the size of this fob, no need to be so big.

The parts guy also told me that these fobs cost $350. to replace, so it's worth protecting it.

I'm sure there will be aftermarket ones available at some point relatively soon for WAY less than $350. I replaced the fob for my 2005 Ranger and I think it cost me all of like $8. Ford wanted like $80.

My Fusion FOB was slightly smaller but accessing the key was more time consuming and inconvenient. Accessing the key in the Lariat FOB is easy peezy lemon squeezy. IMO, that is worth a slightly larger FOB.

This is what I got. The "2x" marking isn't the same but the cover fits and it works. You just have to remember what "2x" does. Down side is that it makes the fob even larger.

Ebay has silicone covers in various colors for $7.99 and Amazon has them as low as $4.99. The fobs are the same as the 2017-2019 F-series. I have used the silicone type on my '15 Escape fob for 4yrs.

Do you guys carry that thing around in a wagon? I'm almost glad I didn't get the keyless option for that reason. My focus and my wife's edge both had fobs, they were all small and after almost 10 years, both survive and look in decent shape. I have an XLT, so I need to flick out my switchblade so the keys are in and out all the time.

It is big, I keep it in my pocket too and its not terrible but is a bit bulky, not really looking forward to having it in shorts this summer:crazy: May need to look into the keypad so I can just leave it in the truck.
