My "build date" was yesterday and, like clockwork, the body shop started assembly yesterday. It got painted overnight, and is now heading down the line. So body and final assembly are happening on day shifts and not on a Monday or Friday. 'Tis a good omen.

Our builds are identical so it is pretty cool to see pics like this. Mine was a few weeks before yours, and I can't wait for it to arrive! Fun to see yours was chasing a Bronco down the line.

Is that your actual build, or a stock picture?
That's my actual build. You could read my VIN on the build sheet before I pixelated it.

Not easy to get a picture in the plant. I am still waiting for a VIN from Jan. 22. My Plant picture.

Sweet pics of a sweet ride. Here's one more after the cab & box were decked on the frame. It's now undergoing quality checks before being thrown into the black hole of shipping.

We have the same build week. My blend date is today April 6th. What does blend date mean? I've read different meanings for blend date.

I spy a Branco in front of you. Interesting as I imagined there would be a line of Rangers, maybe yours is first in line?

Ah yes, it's on the Internet so it must be true. Automotive Engineers see the craziest assumptions about production. Blend date simply means the date that it is scheduled to be built. The body shop will start assembling the sheet metal parts on that date. I don't know where term "blend date" comes from; maybe it has something to do with how the various orders get blended together to run down the assembly line in the proper order. I read many times that it means when the 2 (or more) big sub-assemblies are brought together. That is not true. That process is called "decking", not blending. In the case of Body-on-Frame (BoF) pickup trucks, the cab and box are decked onto the chassis (3 sub-assemblies). For BoF SUVs, the body is decked onto the chassis (2 sub-assemblies). That process usually occurs on day 2 of the build, i.e. the day after your blend date.

Broncos and Rangers (SCREWs and SCABs) go down the same line semi-randomly. Each operator may have a different job to do for the various vehicles that go down their line. Their time/unit may be different also, so running several of the more time consuming vehicles in a row could cause a bottleneck at that operation. The blending operation can be even more complicated like spacing out the Tremors and Sasquatches throughout the day. If you look closely at my post-decking pic, you'll recognize the headlight assembly of another Bronco behind my Ranger.

My truck went from "Sent to Plant" to "Produced" to "Released" all in one day. Fingers cross I get that ship notification soon. BTW, no corporate email updates yet.

FYI I never received any Ford emails after the “ built” one. Tracker showed dispatched at the same time my salesman texted me pics of it in their lot.

It's here! Without any shipping warning, my truck was delivered to the dealer last night. I managed a few pre-PDI photos this morning on my way to work. I should take it home tonight or tomorrow.

Looks great. Wishing you good ownership!! :like: How far from the plant is the dealership you got it through? Great surprise to skip the shipping notifications.
