Hello,

My name's Jason and although, I'm new to this forum, I'm not new to Rangers or Fords. My daily driver is an '03 Ranger Super Cab Edge 4x4, with an '11 facelift. I've had it for 6 years. In 2004 I bought, (almost the identical truck), new, but it was a 2wd. My favorite old Ford I restored 20+ years ago was a'55 F100, that I wish I never got rid of... :(

Anyway, this morning, my wife and I went to local Ford dealer, put down a $500 deposit and ordered a '21 Ranger XLT 301A, Super Crew, 2wd, Shadow Black with the Black Appearance Package, Trailer Tow Package w/Trailer Brake Controller , Remote Start, and Locking Rear Diff for about $36,000. They said they estimate 3 months before it's delivered?

Should look like this:

I'd really like to do something like SCT did, with their SEMA Ranger:

Lowered 3"/6"
20x9 Method Wheels
265/50 Hankook Tires
Raptor grille
Roush Exhaust/Intake
60hp Tune
Air Design Hood Scoop
Air Design Flares
Air Design Fender Vents
Air Design Door Rocker Panels
Air Design Tailgate Spoiler
Air Design Tailgate Appliqué
Retractable Hard Bed Cover

I'll have to figure out how to upgrade the headlight to the Lariat LED's or I might just black out the XLT lights and add LED's? I have some questions about the drop kit and wheel/tire fitment, that I'll ask in the other sections.

Anyway, I plan to be on here for a while! :like:

That SEMA truck is not a bad look for a lowered ranger. I remember the 80's mini-pickup trends and they were what I remember as being the beginning of the trends for making vehicles worse performing for the sake of looks.

Looking forward to your progress pics after you pick it up.

Welcome to the forum! There is an exclusive club of lowlife people that gather on this thread:

https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/anybody-planning-to-lower-their-2019-ranger.1398/

to discuss all things lowered and sport truck. A few members have installed the new Belltech lowering kit and some others went their own way with other lowering solutions. I am preparing to install mine in the next couple weeks.

The only thing we have in common with the 4wd higher ups is our shared love of high performance. You will find all you want to know - and some stuff you didn't want to know - in the Tech Forum for the 2.3 Ecoboost.

Just be warned, we do not encourage frugality around here! Spend, spend, spend!

Seriously though, great to have you here and, you are going to love your new truck!

Thanks! Oh yea, I've been following that thread for a while! I've actually contacted Belltech a few times and they're saying the 3"/6" drop for the 2wd's should be right before I get the truck? Kinda unhappy with the Ford dealer I dealt with though. All I've seen online is Ford wants their customers to be able to do things to their vehicles and the warranty will not be voided. This guy told me that Ford needed to install the Air Design parts, @ $100/hr....

I've been restoring/modifying vehicles since I was kid in high school, 30 years ago... I don't see how a doubled sided tape part stuck on the body will void anything? He said, you can change the exhaust though and it won't affect the warranty? WTH? I already know if I tune it, all I have to do is remove the tune, if I have to take it to the dealer for anything. It's sad, how these dealers think everyone that comes into their store, is an imbecile....

Welcome !
Typical...already modding a truck that's still 3 months out !!!
Pictures will be mandatory...

LOL! Thanks!

I wanted one in 2019, but I couldn't find anything for them then. Then, earlier this year, I was looking for something other than crazy lifted ones, (as that's all you see around here...), and when I accidentally found the SCT SEMA one, I had to have it or one as close to it as possible!

Agree with you about the 80's-90's scene. Unfortunately, I was part of and had a slammed S-10, done poorly, since nobody around here did anything like that. I think I had those awful old coil spring compressors that Western Auto sold. that would compress the front spring 1"-2", LOL! I had something like 3-4 of them on each side and I had blocks stacked on top of each other, on the rear end  It was awful, but I thought I was cool, LOL!

A co-worker said, you better get a new 4x4, it'll be worth more when you're ready to sell it. I said, what makes you think I'll sell it? I hope this will last me well into retirement, which is about 13.5 years away!

Is Ford still manufacturing the 2021 Ranger or are you getting a 2022? I’d surmise that in 3 months all that would be available would be the 2022.

I believe they will be making the 2021s until December. The Ranger has had kind of an "off" schedule ever since it started production in 2018.

While trying to find the 2022 MY schedule, I came across this post from a dealer:

https://www.phillongford.com/2022-ford-ranger-vs-2021-ford-ranger.htm

I thought it was interesting in that this dealer seems to think the 2022 will be the 6G Ranger, not another year of the 5G. They said you should be able to order a 2022 in September - it will be interesting to see if they are correct. According to the below, the order banks open 9/13/2021.

Anyway, after some more googling, I found the dates:

End of 2021:
  • 06/25/2021 - 2021MY Fleet Final Order Due Date
  • 09/23/2021 - 2021MY Last Day to Spec Change
  • 12/10/2021 - 2021MY Balance Out Date
2022 Model Year
  • 09/13/2021 - 2022MY Order Bank Open Date
  • 10/14/2021 - 2022MY Scheduling Begins
  • 12/13/2021 - 2022MY Job #1 Date
If the 2022 is indeed the 6G, they would need to be doing some announcements here soon. The other possibility is the 2022 is some sort of facelift only, not really the 6G.

I'm kind of intrigued now, as I had always heard and thought the 6G wasn't going to be released until 2023.

Interesting. I learn something new everyday. I have also heard that gen 6 won’t be available till the 2023 model year but now everyone knows how reliable my information is.

I asked the dealer the same question last week, if I order this late in the year, would it be a '21 or '22 and he said '21. I have the build order sheet and it says '21 on it. I hope I get it by November and not sometime in '22 :(

Figured I'd make a small update, as I've done a ton of research on the SEMA Ranger over the last couple of weeks. I'll make a build thread once I actually get the truck and start the work on it! But, here's the insane list of parts I'll have to order, about $12k in parts:

Air Design's Full Body Kit - $2108
Paint Match the Body Kit - $1000 Might be cheaper, unsure at the moment?
Raptor Grille w/o Lights - $250
Method NV605 20x9 Wheels w/Black Lug Nuts - $1901
Toyo Proxes STIII 265/50 - $748
Control Freak 5" Front Coilover Drop Kit - $2000 Might go with Belltech for the front too?
Belltech 6" Rear Flip/Drop w/shocks Kit - $519
AFE Cold Air Intake - $360
AFE Black Rebel Side Exhaust - $745
Retractable Bed Cover - $1027
LED Black Headlights - $774
SCT BDX Tuner - $550
Stubby Antenna - $20
Tint - $150
OEM Black Tow Hooks -

Later down the road, maybe after the 3 year warranty is up, I'll move more into the engine mods:

AFE Twisted Steel Downpipe - $783
AFE Intercooler Tubing Kit - $357
Turbo Smart BOV - $243
Mishimoto Intercooler - $750
Stage 3 Turbocharger - $2459
Brake Upgrade?

That should be it? It's a lot of money, but I want it the way the SEMA truck looked and don't wanna take years to make it the way I want it :)

Just an FYI, my truck is done being built last week and says it's been shipped and should arrive by October 26th? Hope so, as I'm ready to start modifying this thing!
