So the swap of plastic to the Mishimoto pan wasn't too bad (even with pending shoulder surgery).

I tried one of the harbor freight hand transfer pumps. Meh. I took my compressed air brake bleeder and some tubing and did it just fine - (see shoulder issue above lol)

I got lucky with all my bolts coming out without breaking thankfully. Everything got touched up with some anti-seize and torqued to the spec from Mishimoto - again no issues. Swapped the filter with a Napa filter.

One question - is the general consensus that the factory pan drop SHOULD yield 5 quarts or 6? I managed to get a bit less than 5 and had no fluid actually hit the ground (i just poured remnants into the empty quart containers for easy reference after all said and done)

And one comment-suggestion. Please don't be an idiot like me and assume that the 1/8 NPT plug is both tight AND has a good amount of teflon tape or sealant on it. Mine was tight but wasn't sealed up well lol. Literally had a tiny dab of sealant on it.

Total time to install was about 2.5 hours with me not rushing and not using power tools.

I'm curious if you have a way to monitor your transmission temp. If so did you check to see what it was before the swap? Can you take time to see how it is with the new pan so we can see how much it helps with transmission temps?

That is what we truly want

I don't have a temp sensor for the trans yet. I'm starting to look for one though since I have that tap there now.

You can monitor the transmission temp using many OBD2 apps. I use Torque Pro, mainly when I am towing. I will be using it to check temps before and after installing my PPE deep pan, once the weather warms up here in Wisconsin.

It is roughly on average of 10 degrees depending on outside temp and load.

I have data logs somewhere of a before and after.

Of the Mishimoto Pan or the PPE Pan? I am asking specifically for the Mishimoto Pan.

You are telling the wrong guy there as I'm already aware that it can be monitored. I'm asking the OP if he has monitored it and what the results are

It is going to be just about the same. Mine was the PPE.

No way their design is different enough to make a big difference. The numbers are all down in the weeds as it is. Especially given the interaction of the cooling system with the trans fluid system. The only thing you're doing is keeping that extra heat out of your coolant once everything is up to temp. That is a hard thing to measure with the tools we have.

I have Torque Pro and the trans temp is greyed out. How did you get that to work?

I believe the 10R80 holds 12 quarts...

You need to add the Ford specific PIDs.

On the Torque welcome press the little gear shaped button on the lower left and select settings.

On the menu that pops up, go down and select "Manage extra PIDs/Sensors".

Select the three dots in the upper right. Select "Add predefined set.

Find the selection for "Ford (Including Powerstroke". This will add a whole series of PIDs that start with [FORD] in front of them. You'll find it in there. They don't all work on our trucks but the transmission temp does.

I use FusionOBD and the Ford PID is $75...worth it...

Thanks for the detailed steps! It has "Ford (Not Powerstroke)" and I added all of them but none display any info. Oh well! :)

Have you connected to the truck and run it since you added it? It should be the [FORD]Transmission Temp one. The fluid temp ones don't work.

Yes, getting late. I will test again tomorrow when I go out.
