I noticed that my Ranger was blinding other drivers and lighting up every house and street sign around. The previous owner added a leveling kit of some sort and never addressed the lights. So, I took some time this evening to adjust the headlights to the proper height. I used an 8" pine board clamped with some @rockler_woodworking 90-degree clamping blocks to hold the board in place. I set the target 25 feet away and adjusted each light individually.

I did have to guess how high I needed to set my starting point because my headlights do not have an indicator circle or dimple.

Check out the difference in the result picture—before, I was lighting up the fence from a long way off. Now, I’m only lighting up the road.

Thank you for caring! So many people dont do this. Mine were off from the factory this bad too.
I know! We see it all the time around here and I didnt want to be that guy. I THINK i am at the right height but i could be off a little. It may not be exact but it is way better than it was. I drove a Nissan Versa before this and I am all too familiar with being blinded. I kept my rear view mirror in night mode 24/7 to keep the glare down.

When I recently had my Eibach Coil overs installed and set to 2”, I picked it up and followed my wife home with the headlights on. I didn’t get but a few blocks and she called me and said I was blinding her in the side mirrors. We even switched vehicles so I could see for myself and it was pretty bad. I called my installer and he said to head back and would adjust them. What he did was put a mark the top of both the adjustment wheels with a permanent marker and went around one complete turn counter clockwise with a screw driver from the top until it lined up with the mark. I again followed my wife home and she said it was fixed, there wasn’t anymore glare. I’ve never had a problem since and no one flashing me.

Marking the adjustment wheel is a great idea! (Wish i thought of that) I dont know how many times my wheel turned but I had to turn my screwdriver a lot of times to get the lights down to where they are now.

I didn’t count how many times he turned it but it did take a few turns to get a full revolution.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I did the same after I leveled the truck and changed out to LED's. I have an RV area I could use. The LED cutoff is really sharp, no bleed.

If they were off that much, the fogs are probably off too.

I used the side of a parked tour bus and a tape measure.

What’s also nice about marking both adjustment wheels is it insures you adjusted both side equally.

Thanks for doing this. It was the first thing I did after the shop installed my lift. Lights blind me at night as is due to keratoconus so any bit helps.

Are those drop in LEDs or replacement housings? The cutoff looks really good.

I used Auxito M3 9005 LED's, had the sharpest cut off I have seen, Very little to no scatter and nice and bright, puts the OEM to shame. I was careful to set to 2" below listed height @25' so not to blind anyone. Plus at night I always stop far enough behind someone so as not to light up their rear window.

I have Auxito's as well and the cut off is great. Well designed bulb. I went with Lasfit dual color for my fog lights and those are really good too. Turn them off and back on and they go from white to amber. Repeat to go back to white.
