Neither one of us are extravagant or materialistic. We never argue about money (usually it’s something stupid).
But you can bet, if my husband thinks I might like it or need it…he’ll get it for me. I have to be careful what I say around him. :)

Honestly, our current relationship is nothing like our past. We met when I had a year left in the Navy. Had a hard time finding a job when I got out, and every frickin' penny was scrutinized. She had an up and coming career in the medical record field. I held multiple dead-end jobs for about 12 years, then found an opportunity to go college mostly on employer's dime. Got my engineering degree in 2010. A couple of years ago I realized I was finally making more than her, though it was not a contest, just happened. Paid off all my depts, house and Ranger. Our combined retirement portfolio looks amazing. (but the losses caused by our current presidential administration concerns us)
I am pretty frugal but I buy what I want when I want. I don't buy stupid shit. So when wifey questions a purchase, I say shut the hell up!

It’s funny, because usually when I’ve had all I can take…that’s exactly what I say.
But, I think that’s what works for us. We let it out & move on.

Is there any home where it’s always open discussion about how much money and on what purpose exactly you really spend on your Ranger? And you can do with your Ranger whatever you like?
Maybe I have missed useful tips thread “how to explain why I need something to my truck and when it’s done, I need something more”?
dont get married or marry a ranger person?

I keep an eye on his car too. Ranger is fully under my responsibility.
Ranger has to do everything, so I think that’s equal if I get what I need (want ?)
He promised seriously divorce me if I get a van. But I like vans too… My Ranger has common parts with Transit anyway.

After 41 years of marriage I'm not worried about divorce. But I have come home with multiple cars without first asking permission. I've always been willing to take the punishment for whatever "mistake" I've made as long as I get what I wanted in the end.

It hasn't always made the most.popilar.person in the marriage, but hey, ive retired at 62 and am able to live in a good manner.

Whatever works. Boys need Toys.

Hi Ben,

Margie is willing to listen so I have to get my ducks in a row and do a presentation for stuff over $1000...otherwise she is cool with my toolaholic acquisitions etc. And I do the same for her.

best,
Phil

Me and my girl have an understanding where we can basically blow up to $500 on anything pretty much no questions asked. We are both grown-ups and work hard for our cash. Plus we each put $500 in a personal account each month for "mad money". I getRanger parts or guitars, she does shoes and purses.

Works pretty good, house is paid off, and not a huge amount of debt to settle up if the shit hits the fan.

GF and I keep separate accounts. She makes more than me and spends more than me.
Her house, so I help out with utilities, I keep my own place as well, and thats more for "insurance purposes" . Plus its too cheap not to keep it.
At this point in my life, I see no logical reason to marry. I have too much too lose.
