How do you carry 12' or longer lumber with the 5' bed on the Ranger?

used a stepladder in the bed, with some closed-cell polyethylene foam and a blanket on the roof. Tied it all down as shown. Worked great.
Not sure what would happen to the antenna on the new Rangers tho.
Not sure how much lumber would be too much, nor how much stress the roof would take without distortion.

You guys are way overthinking this....
Proper way, and you end up with two 6 ft pieces that will easily fit in the bed.
Glue pieces back together when you get home...problem solved...

That's ingenuity at its finest. The only thing I dont like is how the tiedowns go to the outside wheel wells.

I'll stick with my rac n cap though ?

I get in the cab, call the lumber store using voice dial, and have it delivered on a 16-25' flatbed.

For sure. The front ropes actually gonto a steel fenderstay bolted to the frame, if I recall correctly. But the back fenders, yeah. But the fenders are steel, and I know how much they can take. I drove about 5 miles this way. Back roads and avoid bumps. The material is that MDF crap, and it is a lot more flexible than actual wood. That front part flopped up and down quite a bit, so I drove like a grandma.

A real rack would have been much better.

With a Rac N Cap of course!

This thing is simply amazing, and incredibly priced. $1695 + tax which includes installation. Add an additional $300 if you want it powder coated. I would move fast before these catch on and the price is higher. He is located in Chino, California.

I see this and I think how it would be a good base to build a camper!

LOL. This appears to have the makings of another “Florida Man” story. ?

Here is my setup. Did a few easy mods to the installation of the rack to keep my foldable tonneau cover and my decked toolbox. I haul 20ft boards, trim, siding, you name it. Love the setup and to me it looks good for work or pleasure vehicle.

Love the way he assists the tailgate downward while not being able to climb up while he waits for it to fall into a usable position.
