How different do you think basic store white gloss is vs Ford OW paint?

I am seriously debating getting some plain ol gloss white enamel to do my bumpers (with a gloss clear). You think the difference in white will be just out right obvious? I can lay rattle can paint down and polish it afterwards to imitate factory paint. More of a cost factor, but if it looks terrible will give me an excuse to pay my body shop buddy do the actual Ford paint code.

Looks like OW has a hint of pearl? Or would you describe it as yellow?

Can you think of an off the shelf paint that might mimic it better? I just know that OW in a spray can is like $11.00 for 8 oz.

There are manufacturers out there that make rattle can paint that is a match to your factory color. Just use your paint code and order. Not all that expensive ether. I painted my daughters Escape front bumper and it looks really nice. I did do a decent amount of prep work beforehand though. The paint you’re putting on need a good surface to adhere to, especially bumpers that have a higher probability of being flexed

You know funny you should mention that. I had my front bumper off at one point to make removing my crash bars easier (did not cut them out) and I realized this thing ain't like a front bumper on other cars I've had. It is almost like a hard shell. Maybe my memory is jacked but it seems like it had almost no flex in comparison.

Think they’re made that way now so it doesn’t fire airbags with an under 5mph bump! Bumper gives and leaves the frame isolated.

Absolutely. Try the good auto parts stores near you.

Pro-level, like NAPA. As opposed to Auto Zone.

No reason you can't get Oxford White in a can to use as you wish.

You'd be surprised how many different shades of white there are. Unless you get lucky you'll likely notice a difference. Like others have said, I would buy Oxford White premixed in cans. I've ordered and used OEM color matched spray paint from this website before: https://www.automotivetouchup.com. They even sell a high quality two-part Urethane clearcoat (Use proper PPE). I've only used their Magnetic for some trim to match OEM, but it was a perfect match.

your local Auto paint supply store (One's where body shops buy their paint) Can mix you a rattle can for around 40. just need the paint code. If you ask, they also have a book of chips that show the variation in any color. they can use that to get a even better match. I had a couple of cans mixed up a couple of times. Once for a Corvette side mirror, once for a trunk.

Goto Napa and give them your paint code and you can order rattle can of your factory color.
