Was loading furniture and noticed some wooden furniture caused a scratch where the bed liner ends:

Doesn't seem terrible....but is this something a paint pen could fix? or not really.

From my experience of paint pens, they tend to be more noticeable than the scratch marks due to elevated paint. From what I read from other threads, maybe a paint repair specialist who can wet sand it down? It does look a bit deep, doesn't hurt to get quotes around your area, could be quite cheap.

EDIT: This is the tailgate though, not visible? might be worth just to leave it.

I keep a piece of a rug runner from Homedepot the length of the tailgate in the back. Cover the tailgate for construction activities, and covers the gap if needed.

Normally I wouldn't care but I just worry about rust.

Wipe it down with alcohol and put a good coat of wax on it. That's what I have done to mine.

It’s aluminum and good thing is it’s your tailgate and not a panel. It just depends what level of OCD you have. If your ok with leaving it alone it won’t rust. If your ok with seeing touch up lines your ok. But, if you have major ocd like I do I’d take it to a body shop, have them remove the tailgate. Few days later and around $200 you’ll be good as new.

It's the bed not the tailgate.

Oh no. Everyone said tailgate but it does look like the bed after taking a second look. In that case I don’t have to tell you what id do.

No wet sanding or compounding is going to help, you scratched through the paint down to bare metal. Imo a paint pen / touch up brush would make it look 100% better. It's all about not over applying so it doesn't look raised. If your not confident with applying touch up, mask it off and use the touch up brush. Also if your not happy with it just keep a rag with alcohol near and wipe it off then try again

I'm as OCD as they come and even that wouldn't bother me being inside the bed lip. :) As others have already said get a touch up pen and you'll be good to go.

I imagine a touch up pen on this area should at least prevent rusting. I am not super concerned with how it looks as I don't really see that area anyways.
