Curious as to how everyone's factory Fox shocks are doing (or did) before they had to replace or have them rebuilt.

I discovered the thread talking about rebuilding a while back, and I'm at 43k right now. Everything seems fine, but I've been thinking about what my options might be when its time to rebuild/replace.

I don't do a ton of off road, and when I do its nothing super aggressive.

I have the Fox leveling springs/shocks in front and Fox shocks in the rear. I do no go off road. They seem fine to me. The front have been on since just after Christmas and the rear about a month.

I've had Fox 2.0s on for about 50k miles. Rebuild is technically due, but I'm still working out how I'm going to have it done. Would prefer to find a local shop that could rebuild and put them right back on, but that doesn't seem to exist around me. Might have to just send them back to Fox.

I worried about that too, so I kept my take offs for when they need servicing. I can do the swap and send the shocks to Fox if I have to.

OP - I’m at ~40,000 km and they are still awesome - no issues. ?

Yeah I've got the oem shocks in the garage. That's ultimately the plan if I can't find a local shop to handle it.

I put the Ford/Fox Leveling kit on as soon as it came out, roughly five years and thirty-thousand miles ago, and it has been all good since then. I do not go off-road...

I have to rear 2.0's with about 30k on them. No issues but I do find them kinda spongey in warm weather and stiffer in our northeast Montana artic weather. I'm off road a lot betwen September and December in hunting season. Not really four wheeling but some extreme overlanding in our coulees flushing out bucks and yotes. I'm thinking about the coilovers on the front, but I'm not sure if they're worth it. $ 1,400 bucks is another nice rifle and a case of ammo. lol!

Prior to delivery in 7/2020, had my dealer install Ford Performance/Fox Leveling kit. Ride and performance on/off road are both good. Off-roading is mostly on crappy forest roads, some very rocky.

What are you guys putting on after removing your factory Foxes? I'm kind of looking at the same predicament. I don't think I have a local rebuilder, and will need a replacement if I send them off.

No one wanted the FX4 shocks and throwing away perfectly good shocks doesn't sit well with me, so I've still got them sitting in the garage. I might buy a cheap spacer leveling kit to use while the Foxes are being rebuilt.

Not in a big hurry though. The shocks are still performing fine, I'm just mindful of the 50k mile rebuild interval.

This may not directly address the question the OP asked, I have a ā€˜21 Tremor with 15K miles on’em. The factory FOX 2.0 with FPP tune is terrible IMO. I don’t know if it’s just FOXs in general or the specific tune of this 2.0s done for the Tremor package but it’s very stiff for me (TWSS).
It doesn’t even soak up anything. You drive over an average pothole and definitely feel the ā€œtremorā€ in the cabin (excuse the pun). PoS shocks in my Tremor.:(

I had the rear Fox 2.0s for about 30k miles before I replaced the OEM fronts with Fox 2.0s also. At that time, I replaced the rears with new rears to have the same rebuild time, and newness all around. I noticed the new Fox 2.0 rears were slightly firmer, less squishy, than the ones I replaced. I estimate I will need a rebuild after 40k miles, with my driving.

When the rebuild time comes (at 70k miles of Ranger ownership for me), I will either trade the truck in about that time, or replace the Foxes with new ones and send the old ones off for a rebuild, keeping them for the next cycle 40k miles later.

Not sure what your experience is with driving trucks, but they tend to ride like shit. They're utility vehicles made to haul significant amounts of weight so the unladen suspension can be quite stiff. It softens as you add weight. Try putting a couple hundred pounds in the bed and see how you like the ride. This is true for most utility vehicles.

The Fox shocks also shine when you hit bumps at speed. For any given bump, the standard or FX4 shocks might allow the truck to bounce 3-4 times. With the Fox shocks, you hit the bump, bounce once, then the truck is back to rolling and ready for the next bump. This keeps you in control when hitting multiple bumps in a row.
Here's a video from Icon highlighting the difference:
Their demo is a bit dramatic so you can actually see the difference, but it illustrates the point.

so just curious, I have a 21 STX 4x4 with Factory, non FOX shocks, how many miles should I get out of them? My plan was to go to Fox Shocks when I replaced them
