Hood Graphics Idea

My first stab at modeling this. I used Gimp and it's far from proportional (had to stretch and skew a lot) but gives me some idea of what it might look like. The next step will be to make a paper version in full scale.

Color-wise, it's perfect even though it came from a mustang. Any thoughts?

Nice. Maybe a little less V at the front, to line up with the front shape of the hood. All in all that looks really good.

I own a FJG Mach 1, that looks really good on your Ranger, I would go with it.

Definitively agree... part of that is because of the way I had to turn the layer to match the angle of my Ranger in the picture.

Me too. They are the same color, the the factory paint code is NE for both.

Marketing was on their game when they came up with the whole idea of calling it a Fighter Jet Grey Mach 1 and adding the stripes and orange accents as a tribute to Chuck Yeager and his orange airplane. Of course they charge extra for that. ( $1000.00 Appearance package.)

That's interesting. Did you do those yourself? I'd like something like that but have the center section only at the bottom of the trough, not going up the sides. More similar to OP's design, but red striping. I thought about buying the OEM inlays for the hood, but I don't know if it's possible to add red striping on top of it.

Posting an update on the progress of getting a custom strip made. I've been working with L&B Designworks. They've been great and very easy to work with. They have some really nice products for the Jeep world which really come close to what I wanted. Adapting the Mach 1 theme seemed pretty natural for them.

After a bit of back and forth and test fitting, here is what came of it. It's titled "Ford Ranger Mach 1 Inspired Hood Decal- 3 Layer Decal (3 Pieces)". The pieces are matte black, gloss black and orange.

I placed my order and will take plenty of pictures as I apply it.

The order form is here but you may want to wait until I've applied mine to see how it comes out. I can imagine instead of orange, red would look good on a Tremor.

That is sharp, great idea, makes the truck. You make a Mach1 owner proud. I see that you made the product line, impressive.

That racoon though , I JUST YESTERDAY had to rangle one of those little fellers out of our dumpster , he jumped in an empty slick one and couldn't climb out , he was less than appreciative for the rescue though...little a hole...

You had him trapped in a dumpster and let him out? What?!?!? I would have gifted him 36 grains CCI lead and left him there for disposal.
