My wife and I decided to spend the night in Portland last night to check out the Saturday market and see some sights. Parked overnight in an underground garage in downtown (backed in, near the corner, basically empty garage) and left this morning to head to the Japanese Garden. Get back to my truck and notice someone hit the front bumper. PPF took the brunt of the hit and the paint doesn’t appear to be too scratched underneath, but the silver lower valence was unprotected and scratched through the paint. Obviously no note was left. Appears to be an orange car, which I’m thinking is probably an orange Subaru Crosstrek, as they seem to multiply like rabbits here in the PNW. So now I’m left deciding if I want to file a police report and claim this on my insurance, or try and paint/source a new lower valence and go through the pain of applying PPF to the front end again.

That's a shame! Hope everything works out the way you need it to.

I’m going to call Tuesday when their administrative offices open back up. I have a dash cam on my truck, but doesn’t help when the truck is off and parked.

Looking at the bumper, 98% of that will come out with a bit of compound and either elbow grease or a good buffer/orbital. The bash plate is a different story, you'll be left with visible damage there, though it could be drastically reduced with a bit of touch up paint. Personally, I wouldn't file a claim, as it always seems to adversely affect your rates (typically through the loss of eligibility of a discount).

Yeah that's pretty much what I've settled on. Peeling back the PPF on the bumper (high-end XPEL), there doesn't see to be any paint damage. So I guess it did it's job and was worth the $100 and 2 hours I spent putting it on. I think the plan for now is to touch up the lower valence and just let it ride.

So Sorry! I feel your pain. My wife works at a large hospital and no matter where or how far she parks the dings, scuffs ans swipes never end. People are careless & ignorant.
