Hi All, I've checked other posts and previous questions but haven't found anything there. I have a 2018 Ford Ranger XLT 4x2 in South Africa. Is it possible to to change the slowest speed on cruise control to 5km/h in the Speed Limiter? Is it also possible to activate HDC (Hill Descent Control) by purchasing an HDC switch module and activating the feature using forscan? I've read that's possible to do these mods on an F150, so should be possible. Any advice would be great

Bumping this thread. I'd like to try this as well, and will report back.

Does anyone have a photo of the Hill Descent button, with an XLT / 302A / FX4?
I'd like to make sure to get the correct button.

What is "hill descent control?"

Are you talking about Trail Control?

I don't think anyone's figured out the hill decent in Forscan yet.

@D Fresh it's like a cruise control for downhill. Set the speed your want and it does the rest for you so you don't have to ride the brakes.

Is this just what they call trail control overseas?

US Rangers have no such thing.

ROW rangers don't have trail control. Only hill descent control.

@Captain You should be able to do both of those things, I'll check on mine later for you

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Trail control is a low speed cruise control for foot off throttle cruising, Hill Decent is auto throttle/brake control and only works up to 5MPH or so, the new Bronco has both, as well as hill holding, which is way cool.

So do our trucks have Hill Descent as part of Trail Control?

Hill decent control is a rocker button on 4G rangers and others- I have it on my 2009 Mariner. It works like shifting into Sport mode. on a 5G. When the button is pushed, the transmission will drop one or more gears from 6th(top) but no more than that, at least on my Mariner.

I think they are a little different? My old f150 had hill decent and it only worked down hill. I think trail control can actually apply power and brakes.
Yep, power as well on TC. As mentioned above, it's like low speed cruise control.
ROW rangers don't have trail control. Only hill descent control.
Thanks for the clarification.

From what I'm reading it seems to be an integrated function of TC.

Cool, I'd probably just do it myself by locking in a lower gear if it were me. But a nice feature.

I think that video is a bit misleading -- although I also posted it earlier today in another thread :p -- since the button looks a bit different for USA models.
It seems like the world model might have an angled vehicle (and HIll Descent engaged directly), but USA models have Traction Control (non-tilted vehicle) that goes both up and down.

I'm not positive that this is the case, but seems to be from what i've seen so far...

Does our (US) trail control not control your speed when you’re going downhill as well? A.k.a. effectively hill descent control?

That's a good question, I haven't had a chance to test that yet, but I am sure someone has.
