Has anyone done a complete 2019 Ranger oil/filter change by themselves yet?

Some 2019 Ranger users should be nearing the 10K mileage mark anytime soon.
Any issues with the oil/filter change?

I think the first guys to take delivery were in late January. If you are managing 10k in 1.5 months that's some serious seat time, just sayin' ;)

Your are no fun.

In the meantime - I am in the process of acquiring all the necessary parts, tools and supplies for my first oil change. (See below)

Tools and consumables:
Oil absorbent towels/rags.
Oil drain or collection pan.
Screwdriver set for plastic screws/rivets in driver left side wheel well.
Wrench set - 3/8 drive for oil filter and wrench/socket for oil drain skid plate.
End cap oil filter wrench for Motorcraft 3" oil filter with 15 flutes. (alternate - use an oil filter wrench)
Torque wrench for drain plug and oil drain skid plate.
I also acquired a dip stick oil removal pump to suck out the oil from the engine drain pan without touching
the oil drain plug and loosening the oil drain skid plate.
Amazon - EWK Pneumatic/Manual 6.5 Liter Oil Changer Vacuum Fluid Extractor Pump Tank Remover.
This reference is not a supplier/vendor plug - other pumps can be purchased but make sure it can hold at least 6 quarts.

2019 Ford Ranger 2.3L Parts:
Motorcraft oil filter - Part # FL910S

Motorcraft oil - Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil
(~6.2 quarts is needed with oil filter) Part # XO5W30Q1SP - need 6+ quarts (API SN+ or higher)
Please note: Do not use oil labeled with API SN PLUS service category unless the label
also displays the API certification mark.
New oil drain washer? Part # ???

Torque values:
Oil drain plug: xx inch pounds
Oil drain pan skid plate bolts: xx inch pounds

Update: 3/8/19 10:00 am
Due to Ford's owner's manual change and user input - the total quarts needed, for an oil change, was changed from 5.7 to 6.2 quarts (with oil filter)

I'm not waiting until 10k. 5k tops for me. It may not need it, but I can't wait that long without feeling like I'm going to break it. Call it decades of 3k oil changes for me. :)

I changed my oil last weekend at 2k miles. I'm a believer in a break in oil change. What would you like to know? I'll tell you it seems like a tiny stream of oil drains from the oil filter spout for an eternity. I waited like five minutes and climbed back under there to start putting stuff together and got a stream to the face. It was so fine I couldn't see it. All in all, a piece of cake though.

I got the filter out by hand btw. It took a couple minutes to break it loose but no biggie. Also, this is the second time I've seen someone mention 5.7qts with filter? Wondering where you're getting that. The manual says 6.2. I started with 6 and definitely had to add the .2 based on the dipstick reading after a couple drives.

Lastly, I used Mobil1 5w-30 (standard, none of that extended stuff) and the Mobil1 filter from Oreilly. Couldn't tell you the model number but my store had two in stock.

5.7 quarts was the 2.0L I had, I was talking about an oversized filter. I too will change the oil at around 3K for the first change to remove casting sand, and start with full synthetic instead of syn blend. I would stick with 5w30 instead of doing the T6's 5W40 simply because T6 is more of a diesel oil. I'm not even sure it meets the required standards (I've not looked) but I used it a ton in my diesel and definitely think it's a good oil.

Remember to add to the list of things you need the proper Fumoto valve and 12" of 3/8" vinyl or rubber fuel line so you don't have to pull the skid plate anymore.

I'll let everyone know how it goes, and if it's not stupid cold out I might even take some pictures.

From the Ranger5g October 2018 (First printing) 2019 Ranger Owner's Manual
Under "Capacities and Specifications" (page 306)
Engine oil (with oil filter) 5.7 quarts. <----<<<

Again - your "printed" owner's manual states over 6 quarts?

BTW - Do you have torque values for oil drain plug and skid bolts?
Did you have to change the oil drain plug rubber washer?

The biggest take-away here is that some people live where it is insanely cold!

The October 2018 owner's manual is/was superseded/updated by the December 2018 owner's manual and 6.2 quarts is the correct number.
