After rebuilding my icon 2.5s I had just recently purchased a pair of Grimm off road uniball upper control arms. Anyone got experience with these. They seem to be a great value especially compared to camburg and icon. Only 414$ after tax compared to 900$. If anyone is interested I bought them from trail recon.

Do you have pictures of them or any comments on the upgrade?

For your average driver, you typically won't "feel" upgraded upper control arms.

Their main function is to correct the front suspension geometry after a lift.

My truck is only lifted 1.8" in the front and the stock control arms don't have enough adjustment for a correct alignment.

I'm going to disagree with the not being able to get back into alignment with only 1.8 inches of lift. When I did the lift on my 2019 Ranger with Old Man EMU I had the front raised by 2.4 inches with the rear raised by 1.6 inches. I was able to get the alignment taken care of very well with the factory control arms. For you it may simply be the individual doing the alignment not knowing how to align the vehicle.

These are only for aluminum spindles. Since, you have a 2019, you are in. And, that's a great price!

How did you determine he has a 2019? I don't see how since he did not state it.

Agree or disagree, the fact is that 2 different shops couldn't get it there.

It's very close, but not quite.

One shop told me it's so close I probably won't notice anything, but it's still not in spec.

Not an opinion, just a fact with my truck.

YMMV.

I have the Fox level that’s 2.5” in front on stock UCAs and my truck aligns all in the green. That’s why I ask what’s the point of a UCA upgrade

Like the Icon UCAs look like a great upgrade over stock but unless you have a huge lift or off road all the time I don't see how the expense is even near worth it compared to basic suspension upgrades

I'm curious to see what the alignment sheet shows. I have run into a bunch of individuals that do not get the concept of how to align certain vehicles. I will state that the Ranger is one of the more easier vehicles to align especially since it comes from the Factory with cam bolts.

So did you get the Grimm UCAs?

The price is good on the Rough Country UCAs but it says it’s for 3.5” lift. I wonder if they would still work well for the 2.5” leveling.

I did get the grimms, so far they seem somewhat decent. Not perfect, a little annoyed of the quality of the zerk fittings. I’m like 95% percent sure they use all the parts from the icon upper control arms except for the actual uniball. It’s funny because it says Grimm off road but it has icon logos on multiple pieces.

That is interesting! What's wrong with the zerks?

I've been looking for new UCAs to replace my stock ones and I see there are so many options now ranging from suspiciously cheap $120 ones to absurdly expensive $1200 ones.

If you are willing to be patient, I can give you another option this weekend! I have a set of SuperPro Control arms coming in for my Frontier tomorrow and they look nice! They also have a set for the Ranger!
