Like Duke said, there are dozens of members that have added such lower grill insert for both protection and looks. I actually have a brand new, Putco with the ACC cutout (Stage 3 Motorsports - Putco Black Hex Lower Grill Insert w/ADD) that I never installed before I traded the truck. I'll be listing it here on the Member Marketplace, if you're interested.

I found the unique design of the 5G front end off-putting at first and that gap concerning too. The front screen (Putco) was one of the first cosmetic upgrades I did. The AVS hood sheild was second because I was racking up paint chips fast.

I like the looks of these covers but the honeycomb openings look too big to prevent small rocks and other objects from going through? Also, I'm assuming that the mounting holes for them are not pre-drilled on the Rangers? Does anyone have pics of them installed?

Tiny rocks could pass through the honeycomb, but rocks that are of the size to cause any real damage while going down the road will likely by blocked, or at least partially deflected, to not cause damage to the radiator.

I have the MTM insert and there is no drilling needed. Just remove 5 push pins from the upper part of the opening and use them to mount the insert. Takes about 10 minutes tops.

Not sure about the Putco.

They use the pre drilled holes for the license plate bracket...or at least they did on my '19 and my '21.

Actually the MTM insert uses the 5 push pins that mount the top of opening frame to the bumper. Took longer to paint the MTM emblem blue to match my truck than it did to mount it. Have had mine on almost a year hasn't moved.

I have the Mountains to Metal insert, really like it. Same week after install I walked by the front and discovered I had caught a large bird with the insert. Don't know if it would have caused damage but glad I didn't have to find out.

This looks like a good option...the M2M seller states:
"Hardware included (replacement rivets in case one breaks)"

I accidentally broke one of the push pins that attach the panel which sets over the hood fastener which needed to be removed so I could re-adjust the hood fastener after installing the AVS Bugflector II and had buy a replacement push pin which was an inconvenience.
