Apparently I can’t edit titles. Guess that’s what I get for doing this on my phone. Coilover not cool over I guess a mod edited the title. Thanks!

Edit: Used a heavier duty spring compressor to relieve the pressure and hand turned the adjustment collar. Very easy with the right compressor.

Hey all,

So I bought the non-Ford fox 2.0 kit. Rep from fox confirmed that it’s preloaded to 2.5” and to get the 3” I want I need to adjust the collar 1/4”. Sounds easy but I can’t seem to actually get the collar lose. I’ve seen some videos for other trucks but the coil overs look different. I’ve tried with a spring compressor but can’t seem to compress the bottom spring that is actually pushing up against the collar.

Does anyone have some ranger specific videos for it? Or have done it yourself?

Thanks

You don't need a spring compressor to adjust spring preload on any quality threaded coilover.

What does the Fox owner's manual say that came with them? Is there a set screw? A pinch bolt? A lock ring? Are you using the correct spanner?

So these don’t use a spanner wrench. There’s a single Allen head pinch bolt keeping the collar closed. Loosing that bolt doesn’t make it any easier. Also the manual says to lift the truck and use a spanner but I’ve seen mixed reports of being able to adjust these while on the vehicle since it doesn’t actually use spanner wrench.

if you zoom in on the collar on the bottom you’ll see there’s no spanner holes

Well, I'm glad you found the pinch bolt on the collars.

The Fox 2.0 is a popular entry-level RHA coilover- I'm sure somebody here should be able to help you out...

Also doesn’t help that the manual seems to also be for other coil overs that can use a spanner wrench

I literally just bought some wheels from a guy and he said he put them in a press and was able to loosen them by hand or tighten them

Well looks like I gotta find someone with a press. I was wondering if that truly was the way to go since the F150 video above that I found the guy was using a press.

Thanks for the tips all. Its a shame that the fox manual says you can do it on the truck and use a spanner wrench when everyone else says nope and there's no spanner wrench holes lol

Can't you just use some spring compressors and manually compress them while they are still installed?

That's what the manual says but it also says to use a spanner wrench which these coilovers don't use.
