Any of you that own the OEM bug deflector disappointed with how they designed it? It’s held on by tight clamps that only have 3M adhesive under them to prevent from damaging your hood. I installed mine yesterday and I’m debating on removing it after looking at my mother’s 4Runner with the same style system. Hers now has dirt and grime under the adhesive.

Despite all that, for $100 I am disappointed. Looks like this could have been held in just fine with the two center clamps.

Anyone running the OEM deflector and upset with it?

Looks wise, it’s gorgeous and adds an awesome look to the truck and hopefully performs well with its purpose, but the install and how it’s designed sucks.

Thanks for posting this, Zachary. I have been thinking about getting one of these, but now I think that I will just leave well enough alone....

I have had a 2nd Ford OEM Deflector on my Ranger for about 3 months. I was very surprised that all mounts were by the clips and that the front 2 did not mount underneath. The first I installed came apart at about 50mph in a freezing rain on the 2nd day, but was replaced my my dealer with no issues.

The replacement has done well so far, ? but I do worry going through the car wash and such. I added washers between the bolts and gasket on the 2 center points to keep it from tearing the rubber seal.

Which one are you talking about? Please post up a photo.

I’m guessing you have the 3M stickers on yours as well?

The paint protection for where the clips mount, yes, did put them on. But those are common even with the AVS versions, the rubber "bumpers" that we need to place on the hood are a bit annoying as well. I have a few coats of ceramic to protect... so I have that going for me, which is nice. ?️‍♂ :sunglasses:

I wonder how the quality is on the aeroskin version
I have the Aeroskin II and am happy with it so far (bought from AVS). I've only had it on a couple of weeks, but quality seems good. I'll have to hold all opinion until it's been on for a while and I've made some longer trips with it. I was a little leery of the adhesive, but it seems to be holding well.

I have the AVS II as well I can see it working every time I tale the truck out. Small stuff and bugs are lifted over the cab. I don't install the rubber bumpers. I won't be going fast enough to bend back the Bug Deflector ends LOL

I've got the flush mount version, so no worries about bending it...umm, not that I go that fast either

Does yours have a lip on it or is it just flat. The AVS II has a lip where everything hits the lip and goes right up over the cab. I've seen some of them that are just flat. Those protective Leading Edge of the hood just like the ABS but they don't direct air over the cap without a lip of some kind.

I bought the one with the lip. We travel east of the mountains a couple times a year and I'm hoping this will decrease the amount of cleaning I'll need to do to the windshield.

I want the non-adhesive one. Is that one available from Ford or do I have to buy it aftermarket? If from Ford, what part # is it?
