Maybe I'm showing my age, but I'm old enough to remember the BS Firestone tried to pull with Ford and the Explorer. I will NEVER, EVER give Firestone any of my business!

Yeah we're not going to bother with that argument but to put simple that's when Ford decided to go way lower than any manufacturer should have gone for tire pressure causing said Tire to explode. Also we're no longer in those times so like said we're not going to keep that argument up and we're going to leave that one be.

@AzScorpion as a personal request delete any posts that try to bring up the argument.

What, you don't what it to turn out like the tune thread? :giggle:

Everything goes off topic but maybe we can try keep this one dedicated towards the Firestone Destination XT's. ?

I used to work for a Ford Dealer. It wasn't Firestone tires. When Ford came out with the Ford Explorer it wasn't riding very smooth so they lowered the tire pressure below safe levels. I always run my tires a couple of pounds above the listed air pressure. Just put Firestone Destination XT LT265/70/17 on my 2019 Ford Ranger. They ride really nice, they're great in rain & puddles, & they are good in the sand/woods. They ride a bit stiffer than the Hankooks but now my Ranger is not as bouncy. I wanted something different & the B.F. Goodrich in that size weighed more. These are 45 pounds each. Just put them on so I'm not sure how they are in snow but they are 3 peak

You will be happy with them.in the snow. I delt with it plenty out here in my 2019 Ranger with the Old Man EMU lift and with the 2019 Express 3500 I had from my work(yes I convinced my boss to get them on the van). In snow I never had a real problem, mind you I also tried to not do any stupid things in the snow either. Just remember that even a true snow tire will outperform the XT in snow.

As for me I got about 37,000 miles out of the tire in the work van and probably had another 3,000 to go but the van was super heavy so it was expected. The Ranger moght have put 15,000 on the tires and they still looked close to new(Ranger wasn't near as heavy as the van).

Here in the next month or so I will be putting on a set(including matchong spare) on my 1993 Pathfinder. I was so impressed with the on and OffRoad manners that I will stay with them

ithemi will also add that having a few sand bags in the back help with winter traction

i considered the firestone xt and feel like they are a good quality tire that would served me well. i had a set of the firestone steel tex years ago and they were good tires. I ended up with the bfg on the ranger since they were just a lil better deal at the time. it seems like bfg is more focused on race / off road image and performance stuff than the more daily driven types of tires. that is not a bad thing but also not really a positive either. they miss the boat on some stuff. The extra sipping definitely makes a difference for those who are driving on wet streets. tires are a practice in compromise unless you have the money to have dedicated play vehicles. The worst all terrain tire I ever had was the good year wrangler rst or rts something like that. they had zero wet traction. first drop of rain and it was loose as a goose. they were loud and rode rough. When i got rid of them and put something else on it felt like a brand new truck.
I've been running the XT's on my Ranger for about 15,000 miles and I agree, they're a great tire. I went with 255/75R17 size which are a 6 ply LT tire and a bit lighter. They are an absolute beast in the winter and I live in the UP if Michigan so winters are about as bad as it gets. I can't say much about rocky conditions but they're good in the muck and mud also.

Not often do you find them in load range C. The 31 x 10.50 x 15's I will be getting are load range C as well. Being lighter than most really helps overall too
