Walked out to my Ranger today and noticed my drivers side window looked like snowflakes were on it. At first I thought it was faulty tint but upon further investigation it appears that the glass is defect. Figured I’d post this in case anyone else has this issue. Gonna call Ford tomorrow and have it replaced. I’ve only had the vehicle 4 months so it should be well under warranty.

Hi Jeremy,

This is a first....never seen anything like this before, and in my Ford Career I saw a bunch of things, but nothing like this. Wonder what the dealer will do other than replace this.

That's wild... I would imagine they will replace it without a hassle.

Wow - super weird. Do you have an aftermarket tint? Wonder if there was some sort of interaction with the tint and the glass....

I do, but it’s not the tint. The glass is smooth to the touch on both sides.

hit up your tint shop first before Ford
[/

Already did, they are gonna replace the tint free of charge once Ford replaces the window.

There are several articles about various Ford models having this issue on the net. This happens to the laminate between the glass when all the air isn’t pulled out.

Phil,
I thought it was strange too, my grandfather retired after 47 years with Ford, I called him and he was taken aback as well.

I do, but it’s not the tint. The glass is smooth to the touch on both sides which means it’s in between the glass where the laminate is.

Super bizarre. I've never seen anything like it, but then again, there's lots of stuff I've never seen before. :p Glad you'll be getting new glass and tint!

Wonder what they are putting in the glass these days,. I wonder if it's why some folks, (myself included), see the wavy lines in the windshield that look like a mirage off a hot road. Hmmm...

I also have the wavy appearance. I have just learned to ignore it. It seems that it's only on the passenger side of the windshield, and temperature affects it.

Me too. But still curious what it is and why. I originally thought it was faulty glass but after that snowflake thing above, wondering if they are sandwiching some sort of anti-glare or material between a layer of glass or something.

**UPDATE**
Took it to the dealership I bought it from, they were blown away wouldn’t be surprised if everyone in the building came out to look at it. They said for sure is a lamination issue between the double pane glass and they are sending picture to HQ and I should hear back what they are gonna do by Thursday.

Figured they laminate. Ask them about the windshield that no dealer will admit to knowing about...
