I came out of a 2017 F150. I have driven F150's since 2000. I have no serious complaints about the Ranger. I am happy with the size, power, and fuel economy. My dealer was nice enough to let me the ranger home for the weekend just to make sure it was going to meet my needs as they were worried about me regretting the purchase coming from the F150. I can tell you I do not regret the purchase. See if your dealer will let you take one home for a day or two.

I will try to give you what seems like an unpopular opinion on this. I came from a 2018 F150 that was totaled at the end of June, and had to purchase a truck rather quickly. I went with the ranger and while I do enjoy the truck and definitely don't regret my decision, it did have some space drawbacks. With my F150, I felt like I could always have everything I needed on the inside of the cab. When the wife and I would go on trips we could fold up the backseat, get the dog in the back, and anything we didn't want to toss in the bed.

With the Ranger, this is kind of lost. When the dog comes with us, she takes up the backseat and it doesn't really leave room inside for anything else.

Another issue I have found is the ability to keep my everyday essentials. In my F150 I was able to tuck 2 folding camping chairs behind the rear seat, had the room underneath the seat trapped by the two tuck-away brackets (small fire extinguisher, 4d maglite, extra leash and bowl for the dog) , pals panels to organize everything I wanted under the folded seats with molle pouches (gave me the opportunity to have a couple of multitools, roadside emergency kit, full med kit, recovery gear, snow survival kit [blanket, spare food, and a jet-boil]). With the Ranger I can now get 2 smaller folding camping chairs behind the seat, my med kit under the seat in the bigger compartment and a couple of led lights and my safety vest in the small compartment. Everything else that I used to keep inside the cab have either been dwindled down and taken to the bare minimum, removed, or left floating around the cab looking out of place.

I had a 2011 F-150 SCREW 5.0 4x4. Great truck but with just the wife, dog, and I, the Ranger is perfect for my needs. It’s much more capable off road as well. At least how I have mine set up compared to the non moded F-150.
Zero regrets on getting the Ranger and not an F-150 especially since I only spent $26,000 on it. They were ready to get rid of it being a new 2019 on the lot for 9 months.

Just to clarify, you used to drive a garage without a tailgate damper.

And now you'll need to add a trailer? Lol just giving you grief:p

Who said I didn't have a tailgate damper on the F150?
The F 150's had the intergraded dampers in the taillights. I hope the next gen rangers get those because it's nice having them hide out of the way.

That is if you opted to pay for the ford one. They made the same cheap kit for the F150, except mine was way smoother since the tailgate actually had weight to it.

I remember when one member here was trying to make some dampers before any were out yet. He was having trouble finding a damper that would work well with the light tailgate. I think the Ford/DeeZee one works great and mine is very smooth. I never had one on my F 150 only my Tacoma had one and those were intergraded too. It's just nice having them like that so if you're sliding stuff in and out you don't catch the damper and trash it.

My first test drive of the ranger didn't sell it to me, just due to the quick test drive and not driving it very far. I knew I liked it alot just didn't pull the trigger, 2 or so weeks went by, and i contacted my salesman again and asked if I could take it home to get more of a everyday feel of owning one coming from the f150, he was great and said absolutely. I took it back yesterday, enjoyed every bit of it. Was talking with him all day today. Monday should be the day I go get it!!

Here is my take on the topic. I have own various trucks though out the last 15 years, my last full size truck was a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. I must say interior space in the ranger is limited, but it gets it done. About 2 months after purchase we took a road trip to Texas from California (it was comfortable with 4 adults ), I did get a Bak Flip before trip. With the Tonneau cover I use bed as a trunk. If you can live with the smaller size, it's a good fit; if you constantly have to carry a lot of gear ( you might want to reconsider ). Power is great, but if you want more power,it can be done.

Hello all, my first post here. I currently have been shopping for Rangers, I have test drove 2 different times. I love my 5.0 f150 fx4 crewcab but the ranger power and torque really impressed me. I love everything about it, only thing that is holding me back right now is the interior space, I am just spoiled with my f150. Any other f150 owners or full size guys switch to ranger any time soon? I just want some of your inputs after owning/driving them everyday. Thanks and great info in these forums!!
I traded only due to fuel economy plus the used car market price was very strong so I got about 22k for my trade. I lack some leg room on the drivers side of my ranger but I'm happy with it. I got a new truck 5-6mpg better and lower payment going into retirement. If the f15 would've gotten the same mileage I would've kept it, I was due to spend a few grand on tires, brakes and routine maintenance very soon as well. I just wish the ranger had 4 feet between the wheel wells but I make it work.

I traded a 2013 F-150 3.5 Screw with the 6.5 bed for my 2019 Ranger Lariet.

DO NOT DO IT. DO NOT DO IT. DO NOT DO IT. DO NOT DO IT. DO NOT DO IT. DO NOT DO IT.

The Ranger is a great vehicle but I REALLY miss the room I had in the back with the fold up seat. What Ford has done in the Ranger with the back seat is rediculous. The fold down seat shouldn't even be there since it doesn't fold flat.

Then you have the bed. The room in the F-150 bed was cavernous, especially when you put a cap on.

The only advantage with the Ranger is I can navigate a parking lot and park like a car which I rarely do and the gas mileage is a bit better.

Speaking of which, all the swapped out rear FX 4 shocks need is a reverse polarity and thicker secret sauce to become a hobbyist damper AND you get the added benefit of a bicep developer ?

I went from my 17 F150 to my 19 Ranger. I miss the sound of my 5.0 most of all. I used to carry a lot of gear when I did field work, so the F150 fit the bill. When I downsized to go into an office, I found I had too much gear. A come to Jesus moment showed me that I was carrying more stuff than I actually needed, so I quickly got rid of the bloat. I love being able to maneuver better through traffic, parking lots, and off road. The Ranger has been places the F150 definitely wouldn't go. I can fit my family of 5 in my Ranger, but my two eldest children are adults and don't travel with us much, so space isn't too much of an issue. I can say I get better fuel economy on the highway, but around town isn't much of a savings. I have run 91 Octane through my Ranger since after the dealer fill up and I run it in Sport around town, so my foot stays in it.

HaHa, same thing about the foot staying in it, if I wanted something for good MPG's I would have purchased a VW!!
