Since spending an additional $10,000+ on an F-150 just to get 48in between the wheel wells wasn't an option, I dropped $25 on some lumber and hinges and made a rack to support drywall/Plywood in my Ranger Bed. The back support leg can fold down flat for loading panels into the bed and then just lift up on the back cross brace and flip the support legs down and the tailgate just clears the 2x4s. or leave it in the flat position if I'm hauling more than a couple of sheets.

That is one place Ford droped the ball. My 1988 thru 2011 had places in the sides of the bed you could put a 2x4 and the 4x8 sheets rode flat above the wheel wells.

Even the Maverick has it. I'd bet a dozen donuts that the new Ranger will have the 2x4 indents and a multi position tailgate. (No damper, though)

Very nice job. I also made a drywall/plywood rack for my Ranger but wanted to be able to load dimensional lumber under the rack so I went with this approach:

I thought this thread was going to be about a bed rack built out of lumber and drywall and was getting my popcorn ready for the entertainment. I am so disappointed.
Well, someone on here built a topper out of plywood, so I can see why you thought that Jack.

Yeah, I was kinda surprised and disappointed when I got home and realized not only didn't I have a pair of middle tie-downs, but they'd removed the slots for the crossboards at wheelwell height.
There was no reason for it and they were so incredibly useful.

That's nice. Is that outdoor carpet on top? I'm thinking I might put something underneath mine where the tailgate comes in contact with the 2x4s

Yes, I glued outdoor carpet to the tops. I wanted to protect the nicer oak plywood that I use for some projects.
