Washed the ranger this morning and will be clay baring and waxing, using Meguiar’s clay kit and ultimate liquid wax. Ordered some chemical guys VRP for the plastic trim and interior plastic and tires. It won’t be here till tomorrow. Will post pictures as I go.

Hood check. And man this is fun....yes those are clouds, not marks. Slow and steady but perfection doesn’t happen quickly

Looking good, looks like most of the rain they called for earlier in the week vanished so you just may get to keep it nice for more than a few days .

Totally jealous for a few reasons. First because you have your ranger and second I don't see 5+ feet of snow and it appears to be at least above zero where you are. And lastly the truck looks so clean. :like:

Out of curiosity - why are you claying it right now? It's my understanding that the clay bar removes old wax and built up grim, basically restoring the surface back to the factory fresh paint. But being as it's a brand new truck, what's the benefit?

It removes any road grim it may have got from transit or driving around lately. It doesn’t hurt it at all. I did get some grim off the front from the clay bar too.i probably wouldn’t have done it if I wanted to be quick, but I’ve had all day and tomorrow.

No polishing? Straight from claybar to wax?

That too. Lol. Although I don’t think I polished the front right fender before waxing.

Nice, what pad/machine did you use? Or was it all by hand?

All by hand. What a day it has been! But I used the little meguiar’s pads for now but will probably get different ones later on.

Using a clay bar will remove minute metal particles that get on the paint from the rail cars, and really preps the paint for good adherence. I used to go full bore with Zaino products on my SE Miata. I had the SE looking like there was a thin coat of glass on her.
